completely agree. They need way more. Hell, Id even settle for 10 per class. Maybe more weight classes too, I think featherweight was as low as it went in the last one I bought. I think they could do a better job selecting thefighters they get too. I mean round 2 was missing TONS of fighters, as Im sure everybody is aware, but they made sure they got the great Mike Anchondo. WTF is that? If you can only get a few fighters, make it count, and get the best!! I guess its a good thing for video game fans when sports have Players Unions. Then all they have to do is come to an agreement with the PA, and they get all the football, hockey, baseball, etc. players in the union for the game. With boxing, Im guessing they have to negotiate with all of them individually which makes it difficult to get ALL the top guys, or even close to it. Which of course sucks for the fans. But I dont think it will change anytime soon, unless boxers are all of a sudden willing to take less money to appear in the game, or the fight night people get a bigger budget to work with.
Your rival punches you in the face at the weigh-in and then elbows or head butts you once your in the ring. They must have Bhop as a technical advisor.
I dont know, I try letting the guy knock me out to see if it makes a difference but...nothing. Thats a *****. You get to **** me up but I am so weight drained that I cant fight back...lol
These are some of the notable fighters from the previous fight night games; Lewis, Marciano, Liston, Trinidad, Marquez bros, Mayweather, Cotto, Mosley, Mayorga and Tarver. There skills and ratings are usually messed up, Rafa Marquez is the weakest puncher in the game.
round 2 was the best as far as game play faster and better handling. the rank system was great i once got to 83 fight on career mode with a create a player. fought him till he was 50 and stayed undefeated . also like the top 10 for ko's records and stuff. rd1 was good cuz they showed tyou your last 5 fight and showed your opponets last 5 .they should of just kept the game system for rd 2 and improved graphic rd 3 is way to sloy and the parry's and counters suck
What they need to do is make the gameplay better. More strategies, more styles, Better AI. Otherwise they should stop making these.
I think I would like to see an overhaul by this point too (though I seriously doubt it'll happen). They've still never attempted to develop an in-fighting system. Clinches are just basically grab-hold-release, all in about 2 seconds, useful for nothing except gaining about a pixel line or two of energy back. In-fighting is a big part of many fighter's game. How about some form of mini 'tug-o-war' or something, where each fighter tries to use their size and weight to get leverage to get their punches off on the inside? Clamping down on someone and leaning your weight on them to sap energy should also be a tactic. Let the fighters be able to have a forehead-to-forehead war if they want it. And on the opposite side of the scale, I want to be able to cruise to a shut-out points victory with stick 'n' move. The jab feels too sluggish at times, never knocking an opponent back or even shake them. They just practically ignore them. And the movement, especially on the vertical plane, can be very awkward as well. Finally - the workrate. Especially for the HWs, it's far far too high. You can have guys chucking 100+ a round for 12 rounds. Whenever I did some fight simulations here, I had to put the round timer right down to 1 minute each because that was the only way to get a comperable HW workrate of about 40-50 punches per round thrown. Jabs in particular, man, you can throw those things like there's no tomorrow.
Trouble with the parry is that, while fine in principle, it just looks so dopey when a fighter is standing there slack-jawed with their hands down at their waist. Again I think it's a factor of aiming at the casual audience, giving a novice lots of time to get in a counter punch, but it doesn't cut the mustard for me. I did like how 3 introduced more boxing styles and punching styles - Judge Jab, Mummy, Wild, Hook Master and so on - they just need to make even more of these. And there's nothing wrong with cosmetics, of course! I miss the little things like having a ref intro and glove touch, or in-ring introductions, or a proper post-fight points decision annoucement. When you're playing in Career Mode, and especially if you're a champion-level fighter, they should go the whole hog - at present, you just get that rival cutscene on the weigh-in where you have to block his punches. How about a pre-fight press conference to announce the fight (with opportunity for a verbal or physical confrontation)? A proper weigh-in, reflecting on how well you've trained? A post-fight press conference as well to glory in your win and set your sights on a new opponent, or comiserate with your loss and lobby for a rematch? Hell, I'd even settle for that old 'spinning newpaper' cliche showing the results of my fight! All of it should be skippable of course for the impatient, perhaps even have options to turn each of them off, but having them available all helps with the atmosphere and building your involvement. A big fight is not the same without the proper build-up and sizzle. A full record of your fight results would also be great, in a Boxrec style.
cotto is almost 5'10 :huh 5'7 please liston has a weak chin and the hardest puncher at light heavy(if you make him drop a size)is...chris byrd...QUE?:think :think
-the counter should stay but should be weak you have to time it with the punch not just hold a guard in a certain place. a jab should be flicked away and not make you lunge forewward like you threw your whole body wieght behind it. and you should rely on ducking the punches slipping and countering with a right hand...then we will have some real counters.i mean has anyone in real life parried a haymaker like that:huh power punchesshould be removed peoples chin should be improved or more damagte taking and better defence i can jab my way to a ko makes sense...i can knock a man out with a jab!!! so leave the stun punches, the ko punches and flash knockdown punches we want hard punches but not these wild pull back things. career is good but there is no build up. it's just like a conveyer belt of bums to fight.also how many guys are way too small or tall for the division!!! i caqn bulk myself up to look like a heavywieght at welter doesnt make sense. you should be given a task to reach the wieght limit if you have to train to get it
I agree with some posters that Round 2 was better overall than Round 3 ... As far as Round 4 goes, I'm speculating, they just came out with Round 3 for PS3, so I'd assume Round 4 will be out sometime next year ...
According to site admin on the easports forum (as of 15th july) he hadnt heard anything about fnr4 being released, but assumed it would be somepoint down the line due to the sucess of fnr3 Maybe we should have our fnr3 online tourney (im sure something could be sorted)
