Yea I liked guida before this fight but he was boring as hell in this fight. All he did was hold onto Mac, no trying to finish no trying to do anything. He had **** stand up and couldn't hold down Mac for long just kept pulling him down and laying there, gay. Hopefully he does better next time, same with Mac.
Diaz/Neer fight was ok alot of position changes but nobody was in trouble at any point in this fight. Pretty lack luster event in all.
I agree with you.I quess guida's gameplan was to outhustle and frustrate Danzig and it really worked. It was a very hard bout to watch.I feel Danzig had to let his fists go at will as it was easy to see by the end of the 1st what Guida's gameplan was.
Yeah i was pretty dissapointed as it was the first ever time us ozzies got to watch a LIVE non PPV MMA event. MMA is getting huge here so hopefully we get more live events and hopefully the have better action.
The night had it's moments, and the scrambles in the main event were interesting, but overall it wasn't a great event. Joe Rogan kept repeating the same innane **** over the course of two hours, and we didn't even get a knockout. What are us bloodthirsty fans to do?
I've always known what kinda fighter Neer was. He's really a solid fighter. Nate is the one who impressed me the most. And I wish Belcher would've gotten KO'ed for all the flashy moves he was doing and not listening to his corner. But it was a good win for him.
Yeah, I don't get it. To me it didn't look like Neer cared if he won or lost last night. He just stood there on the feet when he's been a lot braver with much harder and BETTER punchers throwing at him. He also didn't seem to want to get up when he was on his back even though it was pretty clear he couldn't win the fight from there. Not impressed. I was also really hoping that Belcher would stop Herman, and he had him hurt pretty bad a few times and never followed it up. I thought Shafer did a pretty decent job conisidering the 100% illegal (like it or not) knees that Alexander landed to start the fight. That chicken**** ref should be banned. You can see that he sees them and knows they're illegal and is starting to move in to break them and then realizes "hey, if I do this they'll boo" and backs off. **** that guy. And for whoever said they should put Alexander in with Franklin, Franklin would school him on the ground, as he's pretty good there and too smart to just stand there and trade. I don't know too many guys who would (including Jardine now that he knows how hard Alexander hits) who wouldn't take him down. Unless they pull a boxer off of a street corner I don't see Alexander doing anything.
Whats a good counter to that walk around move that Diaz was pulling every time Neer got an arm? Something that unorthodox, where you show your back seems like it should put you in some sort of crazy danger. Could you grab a leg and dry some sort of reversal from that walk over move, or is there a sub attempt that can be attempted to improve position? Seems like a move that has a bit of risk to it.
Danzig is pretty good imo. With a guy like Guida, you need to either compete with him on a wresting and gnp level, or beat his ass standing, which imo would require luck and very good timing. Think about what weaknesses Guida actually has. He doesn't strike very well, but he closes the gap very well and has a good chin to patch up that problem. He isn't the most technically gifted submission guy, but he is busy busy, more busy than Diego Sanchez and his wrestling strength is good for 15 minutes at least. He's a tough guy to beat. I think if Danzig fights more cautious fighters, fighters are usually vulnerable to subs, grapplers are usually vulnerable to strikes. That makes Danzig pretty well rounded. I like his odds against most other fighters. I feel he has a superior cerebral approach to MMA. Where Guida is just a freaky dude, who's skillsets maximise his natural ability.
The Aussie guy wasn't bad, although he seemed to be timid sometimes. Any idea who's next for Diaz? Fisher? Clementi? Danzig? Honestly, I'd pick all of those guys to be better strikers and I don't think Diaz would be able to sub any of them, but I ALWAYS pick against Diaz (except against Neer who I wasn't sure about) and I'm always wrong. Any predictions people?
