Who do you think takes this one? Could be any good version of AJ (e.g. Klitschko, Pulev).

Ali didn't really have the same style of movement/dancing he's known for in this fight, and we see him stand and trade with Frazier a lot. Would an Ali like that be able to withstand the blows of a superheavyweight?

no way. far too many way better than that!

    Greb vs Hagler
    Steele vs McAvoy
    Joe Louis vs Ali
    Jeffries vs Tyson
    Zivic vs Roderick
    Burley vs SRR
    JJW vs Holyfield
    Wilde vs Carbajal

thousands way far better than that, I'd say.

I think AJ could win as Ali looked off form in that bout but not by knockout, Ali took Shavers best shots, this match would be a cagey battle of jabs with AJ being very hesitant, Ali had the power to knock AJ out, it would be a close fight one way or the other.

AJ loses a decision or gets stopped. I realize this is the comeback Ali, but it had to take a small version of the rampaging Hulk to beat him and take it to him every min. AJ s not doing that to Muhammed.. No way.
If Ali can stop Oscar in 15, well then he can beat his guy here, possibly on late ko too.

I have to agree with Fergy. Muhammad Ali was far from his 1967 fighting form. He only had 18 rounds of boxing when he returned from his forced exile of 43 months in 1970. He could hit harder, but was more stationary, his stamina was gone, so were his legs, his timing and reflexes. He stated to lay on the ropes. something that he did not do in his peak years, 1964-1967, as he had unending stamina to dance for 15 rounds if need be, he got decked by Frazier in 1971, something that did not happen in his 9 title defenses from 1965-1967. Anthony Joshua would have exploited these deficiencies, pressuring Ali like Smoking Joe Frazier did in 1971. Ali did not have the catlike reflexes to move his head like did in his peak years to make his opponents miss, AJ by a decision. If Muhammad Ali was in 1967 peak form, it would have resembled the Feb 6 1967 title defense against Ernie Terrell.

I wouldn't pick any version of 70s Ali to
    beat AJ over 12 rounds

Prime Ali would merely play with AJ torment & terrorize him till AJ lost it completely it would have been cruel to watch. The politically enforced 3 1/2 yr lay off affected Ali badly his magical footwork had slowed but he'd still have way more than enough to stop AJ by the 7th AJ just not in Ali's class very few were

I agree with this analysis, too bad we never got to see Muhammad Ali get better, he had a lot of physical gifts, those war hawks got their jollies killing innocent civilians, deranged people

Yeah how ridiculous it is to pick a reasonable version of Ali over AJ. People just have no clue do they.
