    Holyfield v Qawi 1

Good, sustained back and forth action in which Holyfield banked rounds by being busier. I gave Evander 7 rounds in a row although several were close. I'm not surprised the difference between official scorecards was as wide as it was.

Had Qawi been able to match Holyfield's punch output, he could have won the fight because he seemed to hit harder and his punches had greater impact. But Holyfield was the rightful winner.

    110-9
    2 9-10
    3 10-9
    4 9-10 (excellent back and.forth action)
5 10-9 (close, good exchanges again)
6 9-10 (excellent head movement from Qawi and the more telling blows from him)
    7 10-9
8 10-9 (close, Holyfield the busier, Qawi landed some big shots towards the end)
9 10-9 (good boxing from Holy)
    10 10-9
    11 10-9 (close)
12 10-9 (close again. Qawi landing well when he throws but not busy enough, which is why Holy keeps edging these rounds imo)
    13 10-8
    14 10-10
15 9-10 (clear Qawi round. Why didn't he do that earlier?!)

    Holyfield 146-139 Qawi

Gaspar Ortega v Benny Paret 1

Close, pick'em kind of a fight with steady sustained action throughout. No-one really had a clear edge and most rounds were close, some very close. Could easily have been a draw and would have been on my card if I'd scored round 8 for Paret, which I nearly did.

    1 9-10
    2 10-9
    3 10-9
    4 9-10
    5 10-9
    6 10-9
    7 9-10
    8 10-10 (difficult to score)
    9 10-9
    10 9-10

    Ortega 96-95 Paret

Benny Paret vs Gaspar Ortega I

Round 1: 10-9 Ortega (real good first round, close to even to the bell when Gaspar landed a swift combo that looked to put a stunned look on Paret's face)

Round 2: 10-9 Ortega (More definitive round for Gaspar this time. He's landing solid while bobbing under much of Paret's work or rolling the some of the stuff Ortega can't get clear of. Gaspar appeared to stun Paret in the last minute of the round again)

Round 3: 10-9 Ortega (Paret started better this round, was getting nailed by the final minute)

Round 4: 10-9 Paret (more of a boxing round for the first 2 minutes, Paret landed well with his jab and straight right from the outside. When the last minute turned into more of what took place in the first 3 rounds Paret did hang around even until close to the bell when Ortega caught him clean with a good uppercut. Not enough to take the round though for Ortega imo)

Round 5: 10-9 Paret (super close, things have slowed way down in the 5th. Ortega took a early slim lead, Paret climbed back up to level, and won the round in the last minute with the cleaner more noticeable shots and landing more of them)

Round 6: 10-9 Paret (good round for Paret, landing the clear eye catching shots. Gaspar did make it close at the end landing 2 huge clean uppercuts)

Round 7: 10-9 Paret (even in close Benny is managing to land the punches that can clearly been seen. Including a stiff right hand whistling left hook, followed by a nice stinging uppercut that punctuates the round for Benny imo)

Round 8: 10-9 Ortega (Gaspar slows himself down and he starts landing the big noticeable punches. Ortega was becomes the more elusive target this round using good head and upperbody movement to evade much of Paret's offense)

Round 9: 10-9 Ortega (goog clear round for Gaspar, using beautiful boxing and lateral movement, getting in with a 3 punch combo getting out. Incredibly accurate this round by Gaspar, Paret who didn't have a lot of success this round does land a bomb of a right hand flush of Ortega's chin with 20 seconds to go in the round that has them trading & clinching on the inside again to the bell)

Round 10: 10-9 Ortega (WOW) All out non-stop punching from the opening bell to the final bell from both men! Ortega who wanted to be a matador before he took up boxing was the bull in this round. Constantly pushing Paret back as they exchanged is what sways this round in Gaspar's favor for me)

My Score: (96-94 Ortega) But 6-4 Paret to 5-5 would be a fair result I wouldn't argue with.

This one is so close it's extremely difficult to decide a winner on points. The draw might be the most fair outcome after a war like that, that was so nip and tuck with only a couple of clear round winners. Great fight for sure, it may just be my bias but Gatti vs Ward 1 & Barrera vs Morales 1 are still better for me which I'm sure I'll take a small amount of stick for lol.

I certainly won’t give you any stick...hard to say someone’s opinion of what they like/prefer is wrong...but this and Gatti/Ward are prime examples of why I love 10 rounders

    Frank Fletcher vs Ernie Singletary

Round 1: 10-9 Singletary (Very close round, even throughout. Felt Ernie finished better to nick the round)

Round 2: 10-9 Singletary (Good round for Ernie, his left hook and chopping rights were landing very well)

Round 3: 10-9 Fletcher (The Animal comes out swarming this round and has his best success so far until he gets nailed with a perfect right hand that hurts him. Singletary tries to pour it on but gets out dogged on the inside. Frank all over Ernie again for the last half of the round to win a great round)

Round 4: 10-9 Fletcher (good round by The Animal even though he spent much of the round with his back to the ropes. Ernie looks to already be tiring (no surprise after this pace) he doesn't have the same bite in his punches, though he's still there right in fornt of Frank taking his best shots)

Round 5: 10-9 Fletcher (closer round, Frank a man possessed for 3 minutes trying to end it lands bombs on Singletary. Ernie still right there lands several really good right hands, but he's getting outworked by what appears to also be the harder puncher)

Round 6: 10-9 Fletcher (Bombs Away! I'm amazed Singletary is still on his feet, what a chin! He's can't see anything out of that swelled shut right eye & bleeding left eye, Ernie hasn't been able to see many of these left hand bombs coming this round, and though he is very tired (along with Frank) he has taken it all and kept coming with what is now laboring offense of his own)

Round 7: 10-9 Singletary RTD (What a comeback round for Ernie, this could definitely be a swing round but I felt he was the more evasive of the 2 while landing as much if not more good clean shots as Frank) SWING

    My Score: (67-66 Fletcher) ATOS

    Greg Richardson vs Joichiro Tatsuyoshi

Round 1: 10-9 Tatsuyoshi (Those early 90's hairstyles are dope as **** Joe stalking Richardson who does his best Pernell Whitaker impersonation. Arnold Schwarzenegger in a absolutely hilarious Japanese commerical between rounds 1 & 2. This is awesome!)

Round 2: 10-9 Richardson (By the slimmest of margins, definite swing round, Greg got his jab working this round, much stiffer accurate and more active. Joe did well this round too with constant pressure and power punching) SWING

Round 3: 10-9 Richardson (Good round for Greg, on his speed bike lading his jab consistently. Mixing in the rare right hand, left hook while changing directions, and a uppercut. Joe mainly just chasing instead of cutting off the ring this round, and found little success)

Round 4: 10-9 Tatsuyoshi (Joe all over The Flea this round, nailing him with hard shots upstairs and good body shots. For his part Greg is clearly slowing down already, both hand and footspeed. He's also already breathing with his mouth open, Joe rocks him and clearly hurt Richardson in the last 30 seconds of the round to punctuate Tatsu's best round so far)

Round 5: 10-9 Tatsuyoshi (Joe's battering him all over the ring now hurting Richardson several times who is just on the retreat now. If Tatsu would cut the ring off instead of chasing him around this might be over in a round or 2. But att this was only Joe's 8th pro fight, so he was probably still learning on the job)

Round 6: 10-9 Tatsuyoshi (Richardson's face is starting to swell up badly, Joe's still winging away focusing more on the body. Greg is now flinching when Joe goes for the body, and I could even hear a audible grunt/groan once when Tatsu landed in the breadbasket)

Round 7: 10-9 Richardson (Tired and probably unable to get on his bike due to the body punching from Tatsu, Greg stands his ground for the first 2 minutes of the round and kicks Tatsuyoshi's ass. Landing big flush combos The Flea almost had Joe on the ground on 2 separate occasions in the first 2 minutes. Joe re-groups & goes back on the attack, and Greg gets back on his bike to finish the round, but a good very surprising round for Greg Richardson)

Round 8: 10-8 Tatsuyoshi (Tatsu gets back in that ass after probably being embarrassed from the 7th. He pummels The Flea from pillar to post, brutalizing the body (and probably landing low on a couple of occasions though the ref didn't say a word) Richardson almost went down more than once and barely survived the last minute. He gets respect from me for staying on his feet through that, but also a 2 point loss of the round from the battering)

Round 9: 10-9 Tatsuyoshi (How Richardson is staying upright I don't know, he sucked it up in the beginning of the round and fought back even landing a pretty good right hand that stopped Joe in his tracks. Tatsu came back & piled it on though, about getting Greg out of there up to the bell)

Round 10: 10-9 Tatsuyoshi RTD (More of the same, Richardson showing heart trying to fight back with what he has left, but his beaten up by the stronger man. Though the beating this round wasn't as severe as the previous 2 rounds until right before the bell when Greg about goes down again. The ref who never gave a single caution for low blows, or did anything else throughout the fight was off doing god only knows as the bell rings. Tatsu continues to pound Richardson after the bell that the corners heard but the ref was very late getting in to break up the fighters)

    My Score: (97-92 Tatsuyoshi) ATOS

Drastic change of pace with this one from Paret/Ortega 1 & Fletcher/Singletary for sure. Still fun too watch, especially the 7th & 8th rounds, and the Japanese hotties doing the body shampoo commercial between rounds 8 & 9 :babeando::wanker

I was one of the people who thought the ref waived off the count by waiving his hands in the air ruling it a slip and wiping off Lockridge's gloves. Said as much in the EOTR Lopez vs Lockridge II card as rorschach. Whether it was or wasn't makes little difference in the final scoring as Lopez won both fights, but that damn NBC announce crew drove me crazy going on and on about the 2 knockdowns by Lopez, while completely ignoring the good work Rocky was doing and the rounds he was winning with little to no mention of it.

    Frank Fletcher v Ernie Singletary

I honestly wasn't paying too much attention to the scoring on this one. This was a brawl, plain and simple. I think Frank largely outworked Singletary and there was no doubt that the fight should be stopped with Ernie's right eye shut.

Fletcher really did live up to his nickname, didn't he!

    1 10-9
    2 10-9
    3 9-10 (close)
    4 10-9
    5 10-9
    6 10-9
    7 10-10

    Fletcher 69-64 Singletary

just rescored it and had Moorer 115-114 but only scored 2 10-9 rather than 10-8, and went 10-10 in 3 or would have had either guy by a pt. If forced to choose I would fall to Moorer, but neither guy did enough IMO to deserve a win.

well we only disagreed on rd 2 and I also went 10-8 in 8, but am not sure...I did go back and forth. 2 of the judges did as well, so I think either is ok
