LOL at Vazquez’s corner after the 9th c’mon you have an easy fight and you are making it hard. Must be nice to be a corner man and say this should be an easy fight.

I have now scored this fight 3 x’s and each time 113-112 for Marquez. Although looking at my last card I scored 4 rounds differently this time through. I have no problem with any card 114-111 for either guy...or anywhere in between. This fight is just that good, that fun, that close and that hard to score.

    1 Marquez
    2 Vazquez
    3 Vazquez
    4 Marquez 10-8
    5 Marquez
    6 Vazquez
    7 Marquez
    8 Vazquez
    9 Marquez
    10 Marquez 9-9
    11 Marquez
    12 Vazquez

I scored 2-3 for Vazquez (last time gave both to Marquez) and 9/11 for Marquez (Last time gave both to Vazquez)...not happy or confident in my card but I never am after this fight.

well we had 6 rounds different. Either we watched 2 different fights...we suck at scoring...or this fight is hell of a difficult one to score.

1 you for Vazquez me for Marquez
2-3 you for Marquez me for Vazquez
5 you for Vazquez me for Marquez
7 You for Vazquez me for Marquez
9 You for Vazquez me for Marquez

Israel Vasquez v Rafael Marquez 3

1 9-10 (very close. Thought Marquez's persistent jab and finishing combos edged it for him)
    2 10-9 (close again)
3 9-10 (good jabbing again from Marquez)
4 8-10 (right hand puts Vasquez down)
    5 10-9
    6 10-9
    7 9-10 (very close)
    8 10-9
    9 10-9
10 9-9 (point deduction for Marquez)
    11 10-10
    12 10-8

    Vaquez 114-112 Marquez

interesting that you have the first even round. Honestly I was almost ready to do the same in 11. I found 1-2-3-7-9-11 difficult/challenging to score! Thanks for posting your card

Well, I'm stubborn as ever. I was happy/confident with my scoring for two, three, five, and nine. The others were razor thin and I don't mind.

I seem to remember that I agreed with the decision. Should have remembered if I didn't.

    Great fight, great trilogy.

Pretty sure the 3rd fight is one of his favourites.

I haven’t done a RBR in a while but I’ve generally felt this was a one point either way/ draw type fight.

I believe I had Rafa up 7-5 in rounds, extra point for the KD but there was the deduction which IMO was BS and the last round I can see a case to be scored 10-7 Vazquez so 112-112. Maybe because the deduction was BS, I’ll say last round only 10-8 so Rafa by a 113-112 score.

so why do you feel the deduction was BS? I counted 4 warnings prior to the deduction starting in round 3 and stern in 6 and still 2 more later on. I am not a fan of deductions and hate that this one determined in part the outcome of the fight. It would have bern a draw without it....but...it seems fair to me after 4 warnings. Just curious why you feel it was not warranted

The final one was borderline, and the others were not particularly bad either.

Israel Vasquez v Rafael Marquez III

    Round 1: 10-9 Marquez
    Round 2: 10-10 Even
    Round 3: 10-9 Marquez
    Round 4: 10-8 Marquez (scores a knockdown)
    Round 5: 10-9 Marquez
    Round 6: 10-10 Even
    Round 7: 10-9 Vasquez
    Round 8: 10-9 Vasquez
    Round 9: 10-9 Marquez
Round 10: 10-9 Vasquez (scored it Even but a 1 point deduction from Marquez for a low blow)
    Round 11: 10-9 Vasquez
    Round 12: 10-8 Vasquez (scores a knockdown)

Total: 114-114 Draw (actual scores: 114-111 Marquez and a 114-111 and 113-112 both for Vasquez, who takes the split win)

I can't believe it. My second FOTW and again I have it a draw. But that tells me you're picking good, hard, close bouts @PhillyPhan69. Well done. I really liked Marquez early with that straight jab that was akin to a 2 x 4 smacking into the face. But Vasquez worked his way in well in the second half. Regarding the point deduction, which pulled out a draw on my card, let's just say to the letter of the law it was correct. However, there was nothing that went straight into the nads. These were beltline shots aided by a bit of drama. Not taking anything from Vasquez on that. All fighters do the old grimace when shots stray a bit. But regardless, great fight here, guys.

This fight came in at #29 on Rummy’s must watch fights compiled by this forum. This is a great chance to watch it if you have never seen it or rewatch and rescore it if it has been a while. Still got 2 more days to submit your cards for this one.
