14 is a pretty darn good round too...man I really miss the 13-15 round era of the championship rounds!

fortunately this was not scored on the 10 pt must system but even as a Frazier fan I think a 10-8 round would be a bit of a stretch...but TBF there are guys I respect who do score it that way. But not me

I scored it 10-9 first time but scored it 10-8 when I scored it for this thread. Not that it mattered because I had it 10-5 in rounds to Frazier so it wasn't a deal breaker. I'd only take issue if someone didn't score round 15 10-8 on a 10 point must.

 Me neither. My top 3 are Liston, Frazier, and Patterson...

Sorry I'm late again. Been a busy week. Here's my card.

    Frazier Ali

    1) 09 - 10
Ali rd. Throwing hard shots and landing more

    02) 09 - 10
Ali rd. Same as last round. It always strikes me how smooth Ali looks throwing his punches especially in combination. Like Miles Davis in dark glasses playing complicated licks, muted trumpet pointed at the floor. Casual virtuosity. Just beautiful. Joe lands some heavy blows as well. Both guys not messing around. Throwing hard to do damage not just score points. You can hear the blows landing.

    03) 10 - 09
Frazier rd. Herky jerky and smothering Ali some and landing more and better shots especially at the end.

    04) 09 - 10
Ali rd. More punches landed. It's amazing the punches these guys are shrugging off.

    05) 09 - 10
    Ali rd.

    06) 10 - 09
Frazier on activity and some vicious body shots.

    07) 09 - 10
Ali done taking a break and beating Joe up that round.

    08) 10 - 09
Frazier doesn't seem to get tired. Ever.

    09) 09 - 10
Ali rd. Both were hurt but Ali landed more and hurt Joe more, maybe.

    10) 09 - 10
Ali looking more tired but landed more punches

    11) 10 - 09
Joe's rd. Hurt Ali bad. I think if Joe had just a red **** hair more energy, he could have stopped him. But Ali managed to not go down.

    12) 10 - 09
    Joe's round again. Tough sumbitch.

    13) 10 - 09
Joe's rd. Ali landed more I think, but Joe's had more misery on em'. Both guys amazingly tough.

    14) 09 - 10
Ali's rd. He really put it on Joe in that round and Joe is starting to look like he got worked over with a baseball bat.

    15) 10 - 08
Huge round for Joe and Ali grimly holds on to survive.

    142 - 142

No ****. First time I ever scored this fight I get a draw. Ali down once and almost twice, but Joe's entire head looked broken at the end. So who actually hurt who more? Ali landed more punches, but held way more and seemd woozy more often. I'm ok with my draw and also ok that most people had Joe winning and he got the W on his record. Maybe the best W ever. Both guys covered themselves with glory that night. FOTC indeed.

So your true scorecard is 8-7 Ali?

I didn't count that way, but I guess so. Shoot me. It just looked to me that Ali landed more clean punches. And they looked to me like hard punches generally. I mean some of those combos he landed he got ALL of his ass into. I'll grant that Joe's big shots appeared bigger than Ali's, but not as numerous.

Woah relax. I'm not holding it against you. I had it 8-7 Ali as well with the exact same rounds you did I believe.

No. I totally didn't take it that way. I'm actually surprised that I saw it sodifferently than the officials and most fans.

I scored each round separately and (hopefully) on its own merits. When I added it up I actually was not sure which guy would win on my card but that it would be close, which was the general impression I have of the fight.

    Sorry if I sounded defensive.

I was surprised I had Ali the winner on my card as well. I was a bit disappointed as Frazier is my favorite fighter of all time (switches between him and Liston every day). That being said, I'm happy Frazier got the decision even if I disagreed. And their's nothing wrong with scoring a fight different than officials and most fans. Everyone has different criteria for scoring, and may put more stock into some things than others. That being said, the 11-4 scorecard was a joke. I don't know what fight the guy was watching that day, or if he had a bet on Frazier.

Also, the UPI scored the fight a draw at 7-7-1, so it's a lot closer than some would have you think.
All good. I think I took it the wrong way with the "shoot me" comment mate

    I know - it was a joke.
