7 rounds in and Fenech has not lost a round on my card. There is nothing really that Marcos can or could do. He is throwing and landing good shots (not counting the numerous low blows) but nothing fazes Fenech. Fenech is stronger, quicker and throwing at such a high volume. Marcos can’t match it nor can he get any space or time to mount a sustained attack, Fenech is just relentless. Both have great chins but between Jeff’s superior defense he is not getting hit clean/much and combined with his high volume pressure he is out throwing Marcos 10-1 by the eye test, and landing the bigger cleaner blows as well. Jeff is a machine. Finally at the end of 7 Jeff goes back to the ropes and still wins the closing exchange. This might be among the most fun dominant performances I have seen. Competitive enough that Villasana still stands there. Awesome fight

Just scored the fight, Fenech was just too strong. I gave Fenech 2,3,4,5 (2points),6,7,8,12, I scored 9 EVEN, and gave Villasana 1,10,11. MV tried, but JF was just too physical, I thought MV did a little better in the 9th when he went southpaw, and that carried over to the 10th and 11th, when it looked like JF was coasting but JF came back and took control again in the 12th.
My score was JF 117, MV 111, by rounds I had it 8-3-1 and that was probably giving MV some close rounds that could have easily gone the other way.

Then Fenech must be right up your alley. He’s one of the best of the best in that regard.

    What a fun fight, IMO

    RBR
    1 Fenech
    2 Fenech
    3 Fenech
    4 Fenech
    5 Fenech 10-8
    6 Fenech
    7 Fenech
    8 Even
    9 Fenech
    10 Villasana
    11 Villasana
    12 Fenech

    Fenech 118-110 Fenech 9-2-1

much more fun and hard fought than the scorecards might imply. Fenech won wide, but not easily if that makes sense.

yeah 2 of my favorites. During this time Fenech was nothing more than a name to me, and I didn’t give him much chance against Azumah. I was a big Nelson fan at the time, and again barely knew Jeff. But on the undercard of Tyson vs Ruddock, the featherweights Nelson and Jeff stole the show. Since I knew so little about Jeff, I was super impressed by him against Nelson...I think it is closer than I felt at the time, but I still believe Jeff earned a decision that he did not get. Exciting pressure fighter.

While these threads never technically end and you can revisit them at any time....there are 2 days to submit your scorecards if you want to be part of the consensus...easy fight to score and a fun one to watch.
