I definitely get where you're coming from but I think I disagree. I see the '"fighter of the week" approach morphing into one of the typical threads where guys just regurgitate the same "everybody knows" conventional wisdom and cliches that they've been reading and repeating for decades. Maybe if people would be expected to produce some film to back up their arguments? I don't know. If people aren't interested enough to watch even a few rounds of boxing, then I think we can probably continue to do without them in this thread. But maybe I'm being too pessimistic? I definitely agree that the thread doesn't need to just be about round-by-round scoring, but I would like to continue to focus it on the actual film footage though.
@PhillyPhan69 Here's one, how did you score Byrd vs Golata? I actually agreed with the judges as a draw 1. Golatta 10-9 (Golatta 10-9) 2. Even 19-19 (Byrd 10-9) 3. Byrd 29-28 (Byrd 10-9) 4. Even 38-38 (Golatta 10-9) 5. Golata 48-47 (Golatta 10-9) 6. Golota 58-56 (Golatta 10-9) 7. Golotta 67-66 (Byrd 10-9) 8. Even 76-76 (Byrd 10-9) 9. Even 86-86 (Even 10-10) 10. Golotta 96-95 (Golatta 10-9) 11. Golotta 106-105 (Even 10-10) 12. Even 115-115 (Byrd 10-9)
Interesting you spell Golota incorrectly most of the time yet you strangely spell it 3 different ways lol! Never watched it....never scored it....next time I feel like watching HW’s (does not happen often anymore lol) I am adding it to watch....is it worth the time? Or am I better off looking for another fight in the HW wasteland of boxing?
I am just a bystander and participant but I have a desire to rewatch Morales vs Pac I either as a group or on my own.
I have a talent for misspellings. Lol It's actually very entertaining, Made for a very good fight, Rummy described it as very difficult to score. I'd throw it in the pile to be honest.
My apologies if its already been mentioned but I was watching Bowe/Holyfield 2 last nite. I watched up to fan man. I think Holyfield was winning but damn I'm not sure because Bowe was landing that jab. George Foreman pushing his agenda that nite only confused everyone. I felt bad for Jim Lampley.
No apologies necessary....but it has been done if you want to see how others viewed it or if you want to join in the mix https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...owe-double-feature-holyfield-ii-tubbs.623656/
