Was Crawford v Gamboa fight of the year in 2014? I Gamboa`s speed is overlooked on this forum. This content is protected How does this fight compare with fights of the year from previous decades?
Oh okay, it wasn`t a classic fight and Crawford is still active, but do you know how I can move it to general?
It’s 5 years old, shouldn’t be a problem to discuss if it is FOTY worthy...I find this a fairly sensible thread for whatever it is worth. I have not had time to contrast it with other fights but I am actually hoping you get some serious replies on this one as I am interested...if it goes to general it will become a stupid bash thread. Good luck on this one mate.
Just watched this fight again the day before the Crawford vs Machine fight, having tracked down a very, very, pretty 60fps HD version. Highly entertaining fight in my eyes and if t didn't get FOTY, which ever fight it was that did win FOTY should likely be similar to what most envision WW III to look like
it was (by ring anyway) Matthysse vs Molina. Do you guys think this beat that? Or do you see any other note worthy fights that you to consider alongside of these? http://thecomeback.com/queensberryrules/2014-articles/2014-boxing-fight-of-the-year-nominees.html this is from September 2014 https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ba...what-is-2014s-boxing-fight-of-the-year-so-far
Well, I guess you have just helped plan out the rest of my morning! I have not seen that fight yet, and I hope it to sufficiently demonstrate how WW III plays out in my head. I will let you know how this pans out.
He beat the crap out of Gamboa in them highlights, his body hooks would have been too much for most fighters.
Crawford was countering better than Cotto used to and was far more impressive than Cunningham was in any of his bouts.
Crawford lacks craft but so does Gamboa who was beaten because of the mistakes he made, you are mistaking speed with talent.
First thanks for reminding me of this fight. Just rewatched and scored it and disagree that it was an “exciting” fight or a great fight. I did think it was fun and very good, and I remember the atmosphere during the first watch being filled with tension and anticipation...it still felt that way on a rewatch. I feel Crawford was in complete control from 4 on and even prior to that didn’t feel like he was in any trouble. Competitively I don’t find it FOTY worthy, but I don’t have a list of 14 to compare. Gonna rewatch Matthysse vs Molina in a bit and maybe I will have a better answer or opinion. Gamboa seemed to trouble Crawford a little during the first 3 with his speed, but Crawford got the timing down around that point and took over with his strength power accuracy and skill. Great performance by Crawford and a gritty performance by Gamboa but does not resonate of FOTY stuff IMO
