Are you talking about the same fight? Even the commentary only gave the first 4 to Gamboa? He was floored in 5 and while competitive in 6? I can’t see him taking that? 4 rounds is the most generous card I have seen! Judges gave Gamboa 2/2/3 rounds on their cards and that lines up with what I watched. I think you have 8 and 9 mixed up as Crawford was in no danger in 8 and dropped Gamboa again. If Gamboa wobbled him in 10 that would be miraculous as the fight was stopped in the 9th...

Are you sure you are taking about the same fight?

lol watch the replay! Crawford was not in trouble in 8, you are referring I believe to early/mid round 9. And while the commentary thought he was hurt, it didn’t look it to me, or was greatly exaggerated!

if the German commentary gave him 5 of 6?rounds then you are correct someone is biased!!!! Big time! I thought the American commentary was poor giving him the first 4! If the American commentary was biased I don’t see how giving Gamboa 2 rounds the judges did not made them biased! I thought they were idiots (I can’t stand Kellerman) but not even close to biased! But at least that makes sense! If you gave him 5 of 6 rounds you have even less credibility than I originally thought!

man in one week I have been called a leftist and now a Crawford fan boy? I am definitely not a leftist and certainly not a Crawford fan? While I do respect his skill and ability I can’t remember ever rooting for him or being emotionally invested in any of his fights...but my oh my thanks for the laugh!

I am not bashing Gamboa either, his hand speed was evident especially in 1/3 and 2/4 were close, and could legitimately be scored either way. I have no problem with 4-0 or 2-2 or in between...but 5 of 6, if there is a fanboy it can be found right there!

not sure if you found the fight or not but took me quite a bit of digging to get more than just highlights...

If anyone is interested in Matthysse vs Molina

for a change I am glad your thread did not get moved. I have not (and probably won’t) gone through a bunch of candidates for 2014 but based upon FOTY Matthysse vs Molina and Gamboa vs Crawford....I feel Matthysse vs Molina is the more exciting and better fight and more deserving of FOTY than Crawford vs Gamboa...

what are your thoughts on what fight deserved to be FOTY one of these or another candidate?

Crawford is better P4P than AJ, Povetkin and Wlad.

Mat v Molina was just a slugging match with no skill, I prefer the superoir fighting of Gamboa v Crawford all day long.

No, AJ was on top v Wlad the round where he got caught because he punched himself out, it was a tight fight with both not landing that uch all the way through aside from AJ being hurt.

With 3 pages on this thread of Crawford v Gamboa, my interest was piqued, and although I saw it first time around I have a real need to re-watch and score. However, all I've seen available are highlights and I don't even wish to click on to them. Does anyone have a link to it in its entirety?

This vid features Crawford as the second best fighter today and shows how he adapted to Gamboa`s left hook right hand combo by throwing his right hook from a southpaw stance:

Sat down to watch this today. Philly, first thing, thanks for this link. And you were right, those ads sucked. Here is how I scored it with any notes.

Round 1: 10-9 Gamboa (close, no domination)
Round 2: 10-9 Gamboa (almost an even round)
    Round 3: 10-9 Gamboa
    Round 4: 10-9 Gamboa
    Round 5: 10-8 Crawford (scores a knockdown)
    Round 6: 10-9 Crawford (close)
    Round 7: 10-9 Crawford (close)
    Round 8: 10-8 Crawford (scores a knockdown)
Round 9: Crawford stops Gamboa after 2 knockdowns

Total (through 8 completed rounds): 76-74 Crawford

Each fighter had their moments but it always comes down to one thing with Gamboa. And that is chin. Simply put, his is weak, and I'm being far more polite about it than if you met me on the street. Still, he makes exciting fights because of this weakness and his power. Actual scores were 78-72 (twice) and 77-73 all for Crawford
