It was shaping up to be about as good as it gets for two C level fighters, but it can't be fight of the year with an ending like that. There were four or five knockdowns being traded back and forth and then the stinking ref stops the fight when a guy is wobbled on his feet? Terrible stoppage. He'd already proved he could come back from stuff like that and was winning the fight. The whole crowd starts booing after that. Definitely not fight of the year.
What was that 7 knockdowns and 6 point deductions? The ref was as active as the fighters. But why stop a fight in the middle of the twelfth round when the guy beat the count? The fight was almost over and still could have ended either way. Pretty watchable fight after the first four rounds or so, once they start trading knockdowns. But the technique, athleticism, and work rate all could have been higher. Overall, I think I was more entertained by Crawford vs Gamboa.
Not sure but the thread starter clearly doesn't rate many fights that happened outside of America or canada
undercard for Mansour-Cunningham - Curtis Stevens vs Tureano Johnson Spoiler - Johnson unloads on Stevens for 11 rounds and Stevens gets the knockout in the 12th :bbb
Yeah damn, I watched that fight twice. I almost added it, but thought Cunningham's fight had more drama. I guess I should have still added it to the list though
Coyle-Brizuela for me, albeit the ending took just a little bit of the shine off. Dickinson-Clarkson next in line, and then Matthysse-Molina. To make it a top five, Cunningham-Mansour and also to throw in a wildcard, the Lee Noble-Dave Fidler fight on Dave Coldwell's 'Pride of Yorkshire' bill back in February. Doubt many have seen it unless they use the Coldwell boxing app but I was ringside for it - brilliant little scrap and well worth a bit of recognition for the two lads.
