    people going crazy that people went against vasquez marquez calm down, differant people like differant fights for differant reasons... just cuz you thought it was FOTY doesnt mean everyone else should. It was a damn good fight, i happen to like Margarito vs Cotto more, and could it be because im more invested in that fight being a cotto fan? im sure it does... but when you have so many fights that are great (even Pac vs JMM 2 was an awsome fight) it becomes subjective, and thats where opinions come in... it was fight of the year to me because in that fight you saw

    It was two of the top 3 of the division squaring off in their primes (or close to cuz i think marg might be fading a bit)
    Miguel Cotto was the champion and had never lost a pro fight in his life
    The fight showed heart, chin, determination and relentlessness by margarito
    The fight showed skill, slickness, speed, defence (early on) and ring generalship by cotto
    Mexico vs PR
    The underdog rallying in the second half of the fight to win
    Not only to win, but by dramatic knockout
    And took Cottos undefeated record away

    That fight was an event... the air crackled with electricity for that fight.

    now you could make a similar list about vasquez marquez... and it was indeed a GREAT fight... but im going with Marg vs Cotto,

    if i could vote for both i would

    Cotto-Margarito...

    If Cotto won, he would've had an epic clash with De La Hoya and then Mayweather.

    The drama of the fight (Cotto winning 5/6 first 6 rounds on my card before brutal TKO) and the consequences to the boxing world makes me believe this is fight of the year.

    Only Cotto vs Margarito comes close to the brutality of Israel vs Rafa.

    Vazquez vs Marquez 3 by far. The Cotto vs Margarito fight wasn't THAT exciting although there was alot of drama. The early rounds was just Cotto landing a combo then running another combo then running with Margarito walking him down. They Cotto got tired and stop throwing but was still getting anyway. Marquez vs Vazquez was a war with both guys going down and Vazquez needing a KD in the last round to win the fight and he got it.

    Cotto v Marg for me, anytime an undefeated champion gets runs down in a fight he was winning early speaks volumes of the effort put in from Marg. Great fight, look forward to the rematch.

    I seen Vazquez/Marquez from the house and Cotto/Margo at The Grand. Kinda torn cauza that. Does a lot for one's impression seein' it there, yu know?

    i realized here that it looks like i picked cotto-margo before. i would like to be clear that vazquez-marquez3 is my FOTY with pac-jmm2 and cotto-margo as my 2nd and 3rd pick.
