I think we're gonna be dissapointed. Well, I think I'm gonna be dissapointed. I think you're gonna get exactly what you're hoping for.

 

Linares-DeMarco for me. The fight seemed to have all the necessary tension throughout, even though Linares was comfortably ahead. Dramatic ending. Angulo-Kirkland was shades of Lyle-Foreman at HW. Round 1 was probably round of the year, but the rest of the fight although tense was evidently Kirkland taking over and battering Angulo. I think Berto-Ortiz, Marquez-Conception, Wolak-Rodriguez were better fights in general.

 

Take away the dramatic ending, and Linares-DeMarco doesn't belong on a top 50 FOTY list. :verysad

 

I really enjoyed Chavez-Zbik. Not FOTY, but a damn good fight I thought. Good ebb and flows, I thought with both fighters really willing themselves for the victory.

 

Maybe, but that's almost half the fight I guess. It's like a movie with a great ending, it just makes it even better. A movie with a bad ending can be ruined, which is why I don't see Angulo-Kirkland as FOTY.

But it's the whole fight, the way DeMarco turned it around, the way Linares was showing amazing skills and running away with it, the big twist, Linares fighting with a claret mask...it all made for an enthralling fight...it had that come from behind feel that makes fights stand out

 

Im not sure exactly what you mean, but Im hoping for vengeance. The one best served cold!!!

 

It was frankly a borderline snooze-button domination, until Linares faded and DeMarco took advantage. :conf I enjoyed it, but it wasn't THAT exciting until the very end (and even then, didn't outshine any single round from any of the year's leading candidates)

 

Yeah I'm kind of with you on this. Then again, I found much of Berto-Ortiz equally boring, especially after the apparent climax in the sixth round.

 

I'm with you on the Berto fight, it faded quickly in the second half.

 

I see what you're saying, but rounds 6 and 11 are BOTH top 10 rounds of the year. So I think it's safe to say it's a top 50 FOTY, add in the blood pouring throughout, and I've still yet to mention the dramatic come-from-behind-KO-of-the-year ending... The only reason the ending was dramatic is because the entire last 7 rounds of the fight were dramatic.

Linares/DeMarco is a legit candidate.
