    :thumbsup Agreed!!

True ATGs would have fought each other!

I am a fan of Floyd and Manny but the fact that these two jokers both proudly proclaim to be p4p #1 and yet do not fight each other can only lead to the conclusion that perhaps they are not that great.

The winner of Manny-vs-Floyd would undoubtedly have a compelling claim to high-ranking ATG status, but, at present they will probably be best remembered for not fighting each other!

As for DLH, as past prime and "Old" as he is, he fought both of them.

The fishnets did give much amusement, but as much as I laugh at those pictures, they do not cloud my judgement when considering DLH's achievements.

Had Oscar wore the fishnets in the ring, I would have had no choice to consider them as part of his "Legacy"!! Fortunately, he did not do so:).

absolutely. i watched boxing when he fights, i'm a casual fan so I watched Tyson fights when we had the old black and white TV, and then it was Oscar's turn. IMO wearing fishnets in the ring would catapult you to ultra-stardom.

What UliUli post is part of "my" basis. I don't believe that the number of how many former and current champions is enough to become ATG. The way a fighter fights. How he won the fights. His achievements in the ring. What's your basis?

Knives mate, some of your basis for assessing "How great a fighter was/is" does make a lot of sense, but, imo one of the key factors when considering the "Greatness" of any fighter must be "How many great, prime fighters (Who were comfortable at the weight) did they fight (And beat, of course:))?"

The inescapable fact is that Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather both fit the criteria for a great, prime fighter who is comfortable at the weight. And the fact that both have ensured (Up to now) that they will not fight each other must be considered when assessing their ranking in any ATG list.

Both of these great fighters have this wonderful opportunity to achieve the kind of legendary status that would ensure that their names (and feats) would be revered by boxing fans for generations to come, yet they have decided not to fight each other. That is to their detriment surely?

Consider the true multi-weight "Greats" of modern times, such as Leonard, Duran, Hearns. Would those guys have resisted such an opportunity? No! And we know this because Leonard and Hearns fought, Leonard and Duran fought, Hearns and Duran fought, all whilst in their "Primes".

Until they fight each other Pacquaio and Mayweather do not belong anywhere near those guys. BUT if they do fight, then the winner has imo truly earned the right to be considered "Great".

Julio Cesar Chavez is a better win than Marco Antonio Barrera.

Pernell whitaker is a better win than Erik Morales.

Fernando Vargas is a better win than Miguel Cotto.

Ike Quartey is a better win than Oscar Larios.

Ricardo Mayorga is a better win than David Diaz

    Then you got:

    Rafael Ruelas
    John John Molina
    Jesse James Leija
    Jorge Paez
    Genaro Hernandez
    Miguel Angel Gonzalez
    Hector Camacho
    Yori Boy Campas
    Oba Carr
    Trinidad*
    Mosley**

    **Mosley was on roids
    * Trinidad fight is looked on as a robbery by the general consensus

Based on that Oscar is greater than Pac.

If you want to talk about losses fine.

The loss to Trinidad is very contraversial, and the loss to Mosley is contreversial and Mosley was on roids, and the RIGHT thing is to rule it a NC or a W by DQ to Oscar.

As far as his losses to Hopkins, Mayweather, and Pac. Sure he lost, but he wasn't prime either.

Now Pac on the other hand has lost to two journey men, and a shot Erik Morales, all while he was in his physical prime, and we can even bring up the Sanchez and Hussein fights where he should have lost.

How could a middleweight lose to a lifelong featherweight? It just doesn't make sense!

Seen as how we are just talking records without taking any intangibles into consideration I think that it's with noting that the first fighter on the list is 0-2 against the other 2.

0-2 means very little considering that both fighters beat a shell of what DLH once was.

Even when you BREAK down the records, and especially when you break it down to the T, DLH's record is better than Pacquiao's.
