You gotta understand that these aint boxing fans we're dealing with!!! I was one of the biggest Oscar Del la Hoya fans and when he got the decision over Sturm I nearly threw-up!!!! A person who is a fan of boxing respects the Science first!!! Then the fighter!!!
Punch to the side of the head or hit him in the face with an uppercut...not punch him in an illegal area? Also, let's not forget the many times Froch managed to punch Dirrell in the back of the head despite Dirrell standing straight up in front of him.
Not Dirrell's fault that Froch was incapable of cutting off the ring in any meaningful manner. If he wasn't slow, plodding, awkward and always off balance he might have been able to do so. The ring has corners for a reason. Hard to fault Dirrell for not wanted to stand in them and let Froch rail on him. Why would Dirrell stand and fight a guy whose only attributes worth mentinoing are decent power and a good chin? People are penalizing Dirrell for not fighting Froch's fight, instead of penalizing Froch for being unable to impose his fight on the other guy. Sorry, that's part of boxing, and if Froch can't do it then he deserves to lose.
i really, really want to see these stats. froch could not have landed over 10% of his punches without counting the endless rabbit punching while holding and punches to the back, arms and shoulders. i would also be willing to bet that dirrell landed somewhere close to 50% of what he threw.
ESB, home of the chronically illiterate... Go shine someone's shoes, troll. Haven't seen the fight yet, but it sounds like Dirrell won.
Man, I watched this fight twice, bet on Froch and still can't find any way he won this fight. He didn't land anything but a jab and rabbit punch all night. Dirrell dodged 90% of his punches and also had him hurt fairly severely once. Not a true robbery, but definitely very strange, strange scoring. Oh, and the point deduction was a complete joke. I've seen fighters hold more in 30 seconds than Dirrell did all night, and not be penalized.
Sad thing is I've seen around five people who felt froch won WHO GAVE HIM THE 10TH ON THEIR SCORECARD.
he actually just took a step back, defended well and went to unload on Dirrell while Dirrell ran again. Dirrel would have won it yeah, but one slight problem.... it was a 9-9 round, point deduction anyone? atsch
