An often-asked question is about the bout with the most knockdowns. For instance, there were a bunch of knockdowns in the fight between Dempsey and Firpo but just within 2 rounds.

What could be the fight(s) with the most rounds in which there were knockdowns (one per round is enough)?

I mean more modern fights with maximum 15 rounds (but older/longer ones are also okay).

Most likely a great fight to watch!

Jack Jones beat Patsy Tunney in Cheshire in 1825. 276 knockdowns in 276 rounds.

I recall Tommy Hearns dropping Dennis Andries about 6/7 times in about 9 rounds.

There were also many knockdowns in the fight between Max Baer and Primo Carnera. The exact number is disputed though. Nat Fleischer, who was ringsider said that Carnera was down 12times. 3times in the first round, 3times in the second, once in the third, 3times in the tenth and 2times in the 11th. He stated, that Carnera slipped in the eight.

That would be a total of 5 rounds.

I don't have any figures offhand, but I would venture to say that some of Joe Grim's fights had a lot of rounds with knockdowns (with Mr. Grim being the one knocked down.)

But should we count that?? A round ended when a fighter goes down. Most fighters went down for a rest.

Well, all in all I have to admit that the topic is a bit half-baked. Not so easy to define the exact conditions.
So anyway, just add fights which you like with many knockdowns, ebbs and flows etc. (which are worth a mention).

You were in Jones' corner that night and had a good view of the action, correct?

The British ones at least seemed to live as long as anyone else at that time, which is to say that if they were lucky and avoided the twin perils of drink and working in a factory they could live into their seventies and beyond, else they tended to die in their forties/fifties. I'm no expert but I would imagine that fighting bare-knuckled in bouts that could go on for hours, they didn't punch as hard as modern fighters and bouts ended through exhaustion rather than injury.

In the 3rd bout between Joe Jenette and Sam McVey, McVey retired at the bell for the 49th round. After 48 completed rounds, 38 knockdowns were recorded. I believe 11 by Jenette and 27 by McVey, according to The Ring. I also heard the numbers are disputed.
