You should have asked him why he was dumb enough to drop his hands, mock is opponent, resulting in him getting KTFO.

    Howard right. Thanks.

Bruce Finch was the prior fight in which Leonard suffered a detached retina. The finch fight was a couple of years prior to Howard meaning Leonard had not looked good in over 5 years. The oddsmakers heavily favored Hagler as well.

I once wrote a boxing story for a website that was picked up by Showtime (One of my biggest achievements at the time) titled something like "Why Tyson will KO McBride in One." I've been trying to find the story online, lol.

It's embarrassing, but Maidana-Broner. I was rooting for Maidana, but thought Broner was going to tear him up. I was happily mistaken

I went to the movies the night Douglas beat Tyson because I thought it was a cinch for Iron Mike. Fail.

I was younger then. I was guilty what you see so many posters guilty of---buying into the ko guy. Gomez was a favorite and I loved the punchers a lot more back then. And Lopez was good but he did have his struggles from time to time. the way this forum is with lots of folks---harder puncher always wins--is what I was banking on. And lost some $$$---which is the ultimate way to start looking at boxing and choices made and why.

My dad was in high school during that time and said he lost a 5 dollar bet on that fight. He picked Foreman to win.

My granddad said he expected Sonny Liston to slay Ali before their 1st fight in 1964. He just knew Ali would walk in the ring but have to be carried out. He says he was surprised when he turned out to be wrong.

another fight. Holmes vs. Spinks. I was sure we were looking at a first round blitz by Holmes. Spinks surprised me.

Spinks Braxton. I didn't think anyone was beating Braxton @ 175 at that time.
Hearns Barkley..Thought Hearns would stop him.

Why? SO I could get KTFO!
Pernell brought it up, it was tension between them two for the rest of the event, lol!

All of my uncles said the same thing. Cassius was a clown to them. As they saw it in reel time- 1st the word was he got his butt kicked against Doug Jones but was given a controversial win and then as they put it-some English dude dropped him next fight. Not even a sellout crowd against Liston because it was as your Gdad said; a slaying waiting to happen.
He shook up the world as a result.
