...in my opinion just an all round better show, less theatrics, no bias and no nauseating narration, agree? disagree? Discuss.
Last fightcamp was very very good. They tackled all controversies in a very straight forward manner. I like how they showed Kessler driving, Dan Goossen commenting on it, and then Sauerland explaining it. The same with Dirrell, first his trainer about money, then the horribly defensive interview...then Shaw. Simply thrilling!
They're both excellent shows and both are good for boxing so as fans, I don't think we should be hating on either one!
Fight Camp's got more to work with....6 combatants, more fights to cover, a continuing story line etc. Whereas 24/7 deals with just 2 fighters, covering just one training camp. But I do agree, though. FC 360’s episodes are far more fascinating. They’re not too Hollywood, and they get down to the business of it all. HBO's become just too repetitive now and I'd like to see them do something a little different. I mean that one ‘Road to Dallas’ show they did for Pacquiao/Clottey, was far better than any of the 4 back-to-back episodes of 24/7 we’ve been treated to in recent series. Instead of showing Floyd counting his money, Manny walking his dog etc, I’d prefer it if they delved more into the career of the fighters, the significance of the fight they’re preparing for, and how it impacts the rest of the division. But I guess the guys at HBO know what they’re doing.
I'm wondering whether that's because of a difference in how the two shows are funded. Thomas Hauser, in his recent article, revealed something new (to me, anyway). He said that the episodes of 24/7 involving boxers were financed from the purse of the fight promoters. That is: HBO makes the shows, but it's the promoters that actually pay for them. I'm curious if it's the same deal with fightcamp 360, or whether that's actually an 'independent' show financed by showtime. Because F360 has the 'feel' of a more independent production, whereas 24/7 has more the feel of an airbrushed commercial.
Good points, I guess Fightcamp 360 having 6 competitors means they can trim off the fat. I'm interested to see what showtimes documentaries are like in the future post-super 6 with only 2 fighters. But still i stand by my initial claim that super 6 is just better made show with more integrity, I don't need to watch a Rocky style montage etc. maybe that works for the casual fans, but there is ALOT of cheese added to 24/7.
I think it'd be a good selling point if they showed the rivalry between Pacquiao and Mexican's in the past, to hype up the bout. Show him destroying Barrera and Morales, dropping Marquez three times and even the Diaz fight or Oscar bout. Throw all the Mexican opponents he's faced in there and get Margarito to talk about how he's going to win for Mexico and all that, and I think it'd be really good to see.
Without out Floyd Mayweather, 24/7 just isnt the same. You dont get the great quotes and hatred. Oscar vs Floyd, Hattons camp vs Floyds camp, Naazim vs Floyd it was great.
From the moment 360 hit our screens it's pissed all over 24/7, which itself was the best thing to happen in boxing promotion for a long time. I just wish there was a lot more 360 shows, but maybe its good because they don't draw it out. Both programmes should make more of a point to review the fighter's most recent fights and get insight into said bouts.
The Mosley/Mayweather 24/7 was one of the most boring. Nazim, for all his nice quotes, wasn't that interesting and it was the same old tired act from Mayweather. I liked the contrast between his camp and Hatton's. I think both sides mixed well and it was a great show. The humour within the Hatton camp was great and Mayweather was a great 'villain'.
