"Fighter A ran all night!" - 1st off, he probably didn't; 2nd, even if he did, it doesn't mean B won

Should the combatants' disposition be divorced from scoring in boxing?

  1. Yes they should be separate. All scoring ought to be objective and devoid of stylistic preference.

  2. No, they're integrally connected. Punish even tactical retreat & reward even ineffective aggression.

I scored the fight myself. My general trend correlated with compubox, although I was probably more conservative overall.

Another example is when I told people prior to the Canelo-Golovkin fight that Canelo is going to use movement, I got met with the "LOL, he's got cement feet!"

Once the fight was over the same posters were like, " he ran for his life", LOL..

He didn't, but it still doesn't mean GGG Won!

Boxing is, first and foremost, a combat sport. Some fighters like to circle and backpedal for stretches of time to avoid any kind of engagement while running down the clock. Of course, the so-called purists/jerk-offs love calling these spoiler tactics "movement" and "slickness" and "sweet science". These same jerk-offs are also proponents of excessive clinching/holding/fouling.

LOL I know all we heard going into the fight was how much easier Canelo will be than Jacobs for Golovkin because Jacobs is a mover while Canelo has cement feet. Then they are shocked at how fleet footed Canelo was and use that against him and score rounds to Golovkin for coming forward lol. Meanwhile they have no problem admitting Golovkin Jacobs was close even though Jacobs was fighting off his backfoot most of the fight, Golovkin was coming forward most of the fight and Jacobs didn't land the number of big punches on Golovkin that Canelo did.

Well there's a clear visual difference between "stalling" "running down the clock" and moving away to set traps and set up counter punches. You can tell when a fighter is stalling by just running away to avoid engaging and when a fighter is just backing off to take advantage of his superior foot speed vs a plodder. Make the plodder come towards you to use the opponents come-forward motion to increase the power and effectiveness of your punches when they hit. Like in rounds 7 and 8, G started walking forward and being too busy and thats where Canelo found the openings to land bombs. There's a difference, and you can only judge it when you see it on a case by case basis.

Like Lara at times did seem like he was stalling and actually afraid to engage with Canelo. I'm not sure if it would be described as running, but he certainly wasn't as willing to engage as Canelo was vs Golovkin or even Khan vs Canelo. Khan while off the back foot was staying very active, in-n-out which was very effective which allowed him to score on Canelo and win some of those early rounds. If Khan had just stood in front of Canelo he wouldn't have done as well as he did.

lol here you are again citing the compubox numbers. I'm talking about "big bombs / concussive earth shattering punches". Meaning Jacobs didn't land the number of major bombs on Golovkin that Canelo landed on Golovkin.

Like the massive uppercut Canelo landed in the 8th round. Jacobs didn't land any bombs like that. The big right hand Canelo landed in the middle of the 9th round. Jacobs didn't land anything with that kind of power. And the barrage of punches Canelo landed on Golovkin in the 10th-12th rounds. I'm not sure I remember Jacobs having that kind of sustained offense on Golovkin. I'm not talking about compubox #'s I'm talking about the actual biggest punches in the fight, Canelo landed more of those kind of bombs than Jacobs did.

There is absolutely no way GGG threw more punches than Jacobs.

Go watch the 1st round and count punches thrown by Jacobs. In that round alone they missed 5-10 punches add that up over 12 rounds!!!

Compubox are just GGG fan boys

    Opinion.

Jacobs is a much bigger hitter than Canelo. Canelo has better timing, but Danny hits harder. That's reflected by the way that Golovkin was moving into Canelo the whole time and the way he was more cautious with Jacobs. Jacobs landed some scorchers.

Opinion? Find me a punch that Jacobs landed on Golovkin that is equal or better than Canelo's uppercut in the 8th round.

I have not done a punchcount on the Jacobs fight.

Jacobs was pretty busy, I'll give him that. It depends on how they count punches, I guess.

There's a bunch of stuff here:

    This content is protected

:20 of round 1 Jacobs makes GGG hop off a big right
    1:29 of the 6th
    1:39 massive left hand
1:43 two scorching lefts to the body and then head
2:17 tremendous left hand to the head

You can clearly see Jacobs hits harder than Canelo.

He's got longer arms and a bigger frame and more leverage.
