He was ranked lower than Floyd before his retirement because he hasn't fought the bigger guys just yet. Bar Diaz, did you even think he would have dominated ODLH, Hatton, Cotto or Clottey?

The way Manny beat common opponents coupled with the fact that Manny is much smaller only enhanced his already stellar resume. Floyd really did NOTHING in facing a smaller, older and slower foe in JMM at a weight class JMM didn't belong....it will be a good name on his resume and how he dominated was nice....but it was expected...actually going the distance was deemed more less a fail....

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the best 147 pound fighter in the world today.

2nd at the moment....when and if he beats Shane he'll be the #1 WW and #2 p4p fighter in the world.

Nobody EVER spoke about Manny Pacquiao being #1 before Floyd Mayweather Jr. retired. Now that Floyd is back, Manny is still not #1.

If floyd beats SSM, he makes a good case for being #1 PFP as well.

IMO, he would still have to beat Pac but you could easily argue for PBF regardless!

Of course not! Floyd at the time was #1....but with that retirement he left the thrown and gave up his crown. His successor was Manny who was at #2 before Floyd retired. What Manny has done was not just fill in the spot of #1 P4P but strong arm that title leaving NO doubt who the "Man" is. Floyd was the former P4P champ before relinquishing the title so his return was expected to see him face the current P4P King.

I can understand that.....I'd still have him at #2 if he doesn't have a dominating performance over Shane...if he KO's Shane or dominates him like he did JMM....ABSOLUTELY...that would warrant him taking the #1 spot. That's how much Shane means to his legacy...it's clearly his most challenging and biggest legacy building fight in his career.....just ahead of the DLH win.

I don't do P4P. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the best fighter @ 147 pounds in the world today.

Based on what? JMM? Ricky? Baldo? Honestly the only reason Floyd is ranked so high is b/c of his talent level and skill...knowing that his "POTENTIAL" is damn near limitless...but with all of that there is NO substance behind giving Floyd the title of being the best 147 lbs fighter in the world today...now all of that can change on May 1st by beating the legit WW King in Shane.

Based on him being an undefeated lineal champion.
