Usyk or Inoue. I'm leaning Inoue based on activity and dominance, but Usyk is a good shout. Showed improvement vs Fury over the 24 rounds too. This time wasn't even close imo.
Inoue without any doubt. Usyk with his dull boxing and Christmas gifts is ok same level as Beterbiev with both not deserving to be fighter of the year.
Usyk easily Two wins on the road over a literal giant twice his size who holds obscene physical advantages over him Inoue might be the runner up but wins over Nery and TJ in Japan don't begin to compare
I still think Bivol won that fight, so I have to lean towards Usyk. I wouldn’t complain if Beterbiev won it though; he deserves some recognition after all these years.
It has got to be Oleksandr Uysk.He has proved himself as one of the greatest heavyweights in history.
I think it damn sure should be Usyk. He beat an extremely good HW champion SIX INCHES TALLER AND 50lbs bigger than him For **** sakes!!! TWICE! That’s the type of **** they write about in books.
Inoue over Usyk imo. More active with an average of two fights a year for the past four years not to mention he is more entertaining to watch.
"On the road" doesn't matter for the Fury fights since they were both in Saudi. It was neutral territory at best for both fighters. Doesn't make sense to say "on the road" when it was "on the road" for Fury as well. Not like it was AJ 1 where Usyk beat him in England, Bellew in England, Gassiev in Russia, Breidis in Latvia, Huck in Germany etc. Not at all.
Usyk probably sealed it this evening. Two very clear wins over the lineal champion/leading rival seals the deal for me. If Beterbiev's win was more definitive I would have considered him, but since I scored it a draw, that rules him out of consideration for me. Honestly, I think Junto has the second best case right now. Fernando Martinez gets a look for sure is he wins the rematch against Ioka, it should be noted.
I'm a huge Inoue fan and he's my favorite active boxer but for this year, it's Usyk 100% and anyone saying otherwise just simply dislikes Usyk. If a dominant KO win over Goodman had happened on Christmas Eve for Inoue, maaaaaaybe arguing 3 fights, 3 KO against 3 top ten guys in the division had an argument, but with two fights each and Usyk going undisputed while Inoue was a mandatory and voluntary you can't really argue even as his biggest fan. Now, if next year for Inoue he KOs Goodman Picasso, and MJ then he definitely has a very good chance.
