It absolutely does matter. Saudi is not Ukraine. It's not GB either but Japan is absolutely a home match for Inoue and an away one for Nery and TJ On the road means not at home
I'd say Usyk has the best claim, with the runners up being Beterbiev and Inoue. Usyk has two wins against a guy who was slightly younger than him, outweighed him by 40-55 pounds and had advantages over him in height and reach. He was also the underdog in the first fight in the eyes of most observers. Beterbiev has a career best performance against Callum Smith and holds a win over a highly skilled boxer in Bivol, many of whom see as being on the pound for pound list. Both were also much younger than him. That said, he was a pretty heavy favorite in the first, and the fight with Bivol was one so close that many people had it the other way or a draw. Inoue had to climb off the canvas for the first time in his career and secured a stoppage win in doing so. That said, his second fight was against a pretty unimpressive opponent to a lot of folks, and while he was in control for the entirety of the fight itself, it did leave a lot to be desired. Having a third fight would've strengthened his claim a bit, especially since it was going to be against an undefeated contender, but through no fault of his own that'll have to be considered for next year. Not by any means a definitive outlook on things though, just my two cents. Enjoyed the hell out of all of the fights though, that's for sure
Usyk for sure He proved me wrong twice and beat Fury twice. I don’t care if Bivol is P4P better than Fury, Usyk at pretty extreme physical disadvantages beat an abnormal freak in Fury, who credit to Fury is a very good boxer himself.
I love Inoue, but Usyk did something incredible in a super hostile environment this year. I am expecting big things from Inoue and Nakatani next year (really special performances). Those monsters needs exposure. And if Inoue get the spot in Rijaad... Why don't bring Nakatani on the undercard? PS Beterbiev was inactive. Injury. Bad luck.
Usyk and very clearly. He became double undisputed by beating the best fighter in his weight class and established himself as arguably the best P4P fighter right now.
100 percent usyk. Biggest boxing achievement for years imo. People always underestimate how hard the jump is from cruiser to heavyweight. One of the hardest things to do in boxing.
