I would put Pavlik third, behind Mayweather and Lyakhovich

How the f*ck if Mayweather beat a fighter at a weight class below and Pavlik beat the man considered #1 at middleweight and a highly touted fighter at middleweight.
Sh*t Floyd beat a light welterweight if I am not mistaken...

As a Floyd fan it is easy to jump on and say he conquered '07 and certainly the buys and $ would back that, and certainly the big names are on the resume but when looking at 2007 as a whole and when looking for someone coming from left field and making a name for himself and establishing himself as a force in the sport....I am voting for Pavlik, with PBF a very close 2nd. I didn't think he would survive Miranda but he plowed right through him and JT.

I agree completely though I'm not as big a Floyd fan as you. I'm glad I voted before I read your post so I wasn't influenced. I almost picked Floyd but @ the last second switched to Pav. Tough pick though, but Pavlik made his run as an underdog, and ultimately KO'd the man who beat Hopkins (who's still top 10 P4P and @ a higher weight!).

Floyd and Cotto are both right up there though. When there are so many that actually deserve this award in most years, you know it's been a great year for the sport

Should be Mayweather. This is not about who had a breakout year, this is about who was the best fighter, and won the better fights. Cotto is 2nd then Pavlik.
