Another one for Usyk... His cardio, footwork, and ring IQ is on another level, especially for a guy of his size.

In spite of his decidedly un-Usyklike cardio, footwork, and ring IQ, Wilder also deserves some credit for finally stepping up his level of competition and putting on two of the best high drama fights of the year. The biggest problem in boxing is guys padding their "0s" (i.e. Crawford) and his taking on Fury was a step in the right direction.

Your list does not include the surprise underdog of the year in TYSON FURY

Poll is closer as I expected. Didn't expect less than 95% of the votes to be for Usyk.

Anyway, can you imagine the fallout here if they give it to someone else?!

Two wins on the road, as an underdog, is pretty good. He's worthy of honorable mention at any rate.

    Usyk.

3 fights, 3 impressive wins over 3 different world champions (2 current and 1 former, but who was coming off 2 big Wins).
Took 3 belts and collected all the belts in his division.

Not saying its a bad year, but Flanagan and Saucedo? Not good enough for fighter of the year in my opinion , Flanagan, although a good fighter, he's never really been a top level guy despite being the WBO 135 champ for 2 years, and Saucedo hasn't proved a thing yet either, two solid wins, but nothing compared to Usyk

Oh, Usyk is my choice for FOTY, too. By a considerable margin. No one really came close this year.

And, to be fair, I don't think I'd put Hooker at first or second runner up, either (toss up between Mikey and Loma). But after that, not too many guys have had better years. Wins over two undefeated fighters who were clear to prohibitive favorites on the road in world title matches is pretty impressive achievement. Few guys increased their standing as much as he did in '18. That's worth noting.
