Martinez all the way, he beat a young prime lion and shock the world with that KO I thought I even got hit through the T.V. and defeating Kelly Pavlik who was consider to be the best in his division winning both the WBC and WBO midddleweight title. Come on...

if pascal KO's hopkins in brutal fashion in the early rounds, I think he might take it - apart from that I don't see anything any fighter could do in the rest of the year to take it from Martinez.

Definitely Martinez. Pacman is a great fighter and definitely deserves mad respect. But, in both fights against Margacheato and Clottey he was heavily favored to win. In both fights for Martinez it was looked at as about 50/50. He destroyed both Pavlik and Williams.

Martinez is certainly the front runner for this category.

If Pascal manages to dominate Hopkins, he'll certainly warrant consideration.

Fernando Montiel, Giovanni Segura, and Juan Manuel Lopez all deserve to be in this discussion, at the very least. Ponsaklek Wongjongkam and Roman Gonzalez also had good years, and should be mentioned too.
