Fighter that made you think ........damn this guy is rubbish, but then you see that they had wins over good fighters, and you think to yourself how can he look so SHITE!! in one fight but have wins over a certain fighter. I remember thinking to myself........Mustafa Hamsho looked rubbish against Hagler in the second fight. Hagler was looking like Ray Leonard in that fight, and i thought to myself ..........that Hamsho guy must be ****. However Hamsho had wins over Bobby Watts who beat Hagler (controversially) i thought Hagler won the fight. Hamsho also had wins over good fighters like Bobby Czyz, and the great Wilfred Benitez. I remember watching Terry Norris completely outclass Jorge Fernando Castro, and i was thinking well that was easy who was that jippo ? he couldn't fight a lick, but that guy beat John David Jackson and Reggie Johnson who i thought was an underrated fighter, because he gave Toney a good fight, and he beat Steve Collins in a war. nut:huh
I wouldn't say I thought the follwoing were rubbish but in my opinion they have overachieved with the ability they have. Antonio Tarver, Wlad Klitchsko, Kelly Pavlik, and as much as I hate to say it, Ricky Hatton.
Yeah with Hatton its the same type of scenario, allthough when i see Phillips polaxing Tszyu, and Pendlton giving Whitaker a relatively close fight albeit he won it convincingly. I im inclined to think that they lost to Hatton, because they were waaaay past their prime.
Vic Darchinyan is this kind of fighter for me. I think its his accuracy that sets him apart though. This guy could punch the wings off a fly..
As a kid I was a big wrestling fan and in wrestling there were these guys that come on TV and for some reason they always lose.... I put one of my dads tapes in the vcr and before the wrestling, there was plenty of boxing.... a thing on mike tyson... then they showed something on sugar ray, hagler and hearns... And for some reason, Hearns was always getting beat up.... I thought he was some guy that fought hard but got beat up all the time... Years go by and come to find out, this guy is a hall of fame boxer and a great fighter...
Can't imagine how Paulie Malignaggi ever won a round after watching him get beaten up by Cotto and Hatton. Andrey
:thumbsup Never would have guessed after he was starched by Nonito that he'd come back to destroy pretty much everyone at 115, including a master boxer like Mijares (who it looks like he might have damn near ended). I STILL hate that crab stance, but have to give the man respect. Sakio Bika qualifies for this thread.
When I watched the Caballero-Molitor unification fight in November, it was the first time I'd seen either fighter. If I hadn't known what I was watching, I would have assumed they were club-level. Molitor didn't even look like he was sure how to box.
Great thread. Both Pavlik and Abraham to me always looked rubbish. I couldn't believe it when Pav beat Taylor twice. You look at their capabilities and you just scratch your head when they keep KOing good or solid fighters.
