When not in training camp for a specific fight, what workout regiment do fighters follow on a regular basis? A lot of guys balloon up in weight. Some don't. Do they hit the bag? Spar? Roadwork? Or just eat like pigs? I know everyone's different but what are some of the routines followed by top fighters?
They probably also focus more on strength training! I would definitely like to hear specifics though.
I'm not sure of the source, but I remember hearing that Kostya Tszyu used to do 100 sit ups and 100 push-ups everyday in between fights.
At the very top most of the important work is done in weeks leading up to the fight in structured training. What they do in between is upto the fighter but the intelligent ones are gym rats and stay fit to a high standard all year round. Running is habitual, sparring/skills/conditioning is all done to keep from going rusty. To get a feel for a structured plan, here is Evander Holyfield regime leading upto the Buster Douglas fight. http://www.sportsci.org/news/news9709/hatfield.html
a few of them drink, which is suprising. i know haye goes on the **** but still trains in the daytime like 3 times a week. they use this time to go on holidays also.
Hatton is an alcoholic. Nobody can gain that kind of weight eating just food, let alone a professional boxer. The only time most people gain 20/30lbs of fat weight is when they eat like crap and drink beer.
