With the profileration of titles today, and the political nature of the various world boxing organizations, it is not uncommon for a fighter to get multiple title shots. Victor Polo had five shots at a world title and came up short each time. He lost to Manuel Medina, Juan Pablo Chacon, Derrick Gainer and Juan Manuel Marquez. He drew with Scott Harrison. Polo seemed a solid fighter, who came close but couldn't quite get over the hump. Can anyone name another fighter who got 5 plus shots at a title and never won.

Mitsunori Seki and Yaqui Lopez also had 5 title shots - without ever winning a world crown.

One of Juarez's 'shots' was at an interim title. He's had 5 legit (or as near to legit as your going to call the mess we have today). Having said that, Juarez will probably break the record. He has the right connections but comes up shy every time. Another fighter with 5 is Lionel Hernandez of Venezuela.

I forgot about Lionel Hernandez. Being, from Venzuela, he would be a WBA favorite. I rembember he lost to the well-protected Samuel Serrano in the late 1970's.

How about the 'worst' fighter to get the most title shots.
