Juarez was the first name to come to mind, Walcott had a fair few chances but obviously won in the end

Axel Schulz was the first guy I thought of-

    L12 Foreman
L12 Botha (changed to a NC)
    L12 Moorer

    In 3 consecutive fights.

Thomas Tate had 4 shots. He did win a WBU "world title" belt though. Thomas Tate was a very good fighter.

    BUMP.

@greynotsoold -mentioned Juarez in a thread which got me thinking..He was my choice for the most title shots...but as seen here, he was won that most un coveted award.

Any fighters since then, that keep getting title shots without ever winning one?

Martin Murray comes to mind but I think he has won a minor title or two-
    WBA title draw against Sturm
    WBC loss to Martinez,
    WBO loss Abraham,
    Tripple G all his belts,
    WBA loss to Groves.

I've read a bit about a Ruben Navarro was a solid fighter but never won the big belt. Can't say I've seen him, anyone knows why he got to the title, but couldnt take it?

Ruben Navarro was an awesome fighter who had a Lomachenko-like incline on his progress. I can't remember how many fights he had when he was taking on the top guns of his day including giving the reigning world champ Hiroshi Kobayashi a thumping in a non-title 10 over in Japan no less. He was the #1 contender at 130 when he fought for the vacant title against Rene Barrientos and lost a 15 rounder that he swore that he won 13 of 15 rounds. Regardless, I think this was all within like 15 fights that he achieved this. When he moved up to lightweight he took on and beat the top dogs there, but Ken Buchanan and Rodolfo Gonzalez were always going to be too much for him. Regardless, Navarro was good and was one of the few fighters I've seen who really could box the punchers and punch the boxers. Very versatile.

Eijiro Murata had 4 with two of them being draws. I've watched both of those fights recently and if he'd of got those decisions you couldn't of called them robberies.

Is that fighter who challenged Lionel rose?
Put up a great fight in that one.
Troy waters (rip) had 3 shots Norris brown n French fighter ( can't spell his name) and also had a shot at Trinidad at jmw (non title).
And I think his brother Guy had a couple of shots at title as well.

Yaqui Lopez had 5 total. Four LtHeavy shots in the Golden era of LtHvies, and one shot at cruiserweight when
cruiser limit was still at 190 lbs.

Excellent observation! In todays era of splintered titles he would have been a world champ!
