If Margarito throws 2000 punches in the fight, first of all he runs out of energy. Second of all he gets countered wildly.

Maybe Cotto, Williams, and Margarito could beat Floyd. We'll probably never know though.

    :rofl :rofl

Doubt it. Cotto has skills, but his speed is terribly overated (maybe to compensate it being underated early in his career) nowadays. Mayweather would have little trouble with him, it would be lopsided.

About right, but why Williams? I don't understand this - he's an entertaining, solid boxer, but Floyd Mayweather jr. is so much faster and much more technically sound. I don't really consider Williams defense anything substantial.

I would pick Mayweather to take a fairly comftorable decision over Williams. Indeed Williams workrate is impressive, but being active and being effective are two different things, and being effective is what wins fights. Mayweather is effective.

Cotto would get spanked, maybe even stopped...

I still think that same way, Shane Mosley has the best shot of beatting Floyd and Williams if he fights tall and use his jab. Margo is too slow and Floyd would make him turn and reset all night long, it would be 12 rounds that looked like the first 5 of Cotto vs Margo.

Clottey would be the wild card, it would be a very boring fight but Clottey with his style would cuz Floyd more problems then Cotto or Margo.

Because a huge reach with size and strength advantage can be a huge equalizer. He doesn't need excellent defense with a jab that keeps Floyd from getting in his rhythm.

And how effective do you think Floyd would be trying to get w/i reach of Williams? Floyd isn't an aggressor. He'd play counter puncher likely, and against a guy who won't give you room, he'll spend too much time trying to not get hit or backing up.

Amen - that would be a great fight. Never happen, though. I think Clottey would lose, but he's very strong, and puts together good combinations.

    1. I suppose Williams would have a height and reach advantage, but he does not strike me as very strong - especially the way he throws his jab, like a flick. That wouldn't be successful against Mayweather. If Williams would jab consistantly, the fight would be a very difficult one for Floyd.

    2. Mayweather would throw a couple pot shots, probably from out of range, and move. It's a very similar fight to Mayweather's victory over De La Hoya, only it's a taller, rangier target. Don't get me wrong, thinking about it, Williams is a threat because of what you outlined - height, reach, not to mention he's a southpaw. But he would have to throw his jab with more consistancy to get my vote from here on out.

No active fighter at or around Mayweather's weight would not have a chance to beat him - that goes for any verteran or an up anc comer.

    Margarito
Williams @ a contractual catch weight or at 154 ... Floyd will completely destroy him.
    Berto
    Mosley
    Cotto

None of those dudes can beat PBF ...

It's definitely not a still jab like Forrest or Taylor have, but it's long and effective still. DLH and his jab kept him in the fight w/ Mayweather till he stopped throwing.

I hear ya. i would never count out Floyd vs. anyone. I just think he's reached his level of being as effective as we've seen him @ 147. Hell, even at 147 he's not the fighter he used to be from 130 to 140.

I think Spinks would give PBF a whirl and thats just because I have alot of respect for Spinks and all of his tools. He's a world class fighter with good speed and defense to match PBF.

PBF will more likely win if this ever happened because I know Mayweather wouldn't consider fighting Spinks isn't a marketable fight.
