Andre ward is quite good. I think hopkins would be very insightful but other people on the crew would never get a chance to talk. Lewis is avg but i enjoyed his little comments like when eddie cotton was referee, and he was commentating a fight where one of the judges also judged holyfield-lewis 1 and scored it a draw, and he said that was no draw. Tarver is currently the best.
Some of the better fighter turned commentators are: Antonio Tarver - doing great on Shotime Sean O'Grady - was great on USA Tuesday night fights Shannon Briggs - Fills in sometimes on ESPN Friday Night fights Bernard Hopkins - Fills in sometimes on ESPN Friday Night fights Bobby Czyz- was great on Shotime.
I've seen JMM, Barrera and Morales on Golpe-a-Golpe and they are all pretty darn good. As far as comentary from American Boxers - it pretty much sucks as far as I'm concerned. Whether it's Leonard, Foreman, Jones, etc.., I've never seen them add any real insight and on quite a few occassions I've seen them completely blow it.
Roy Jones, BJ Flores are pretty solid In Mexico Julio Cesar Chavez regularly gets in arguments with Lamazon that rival Lampley and Foreman. In the fight between Humberto Soto and Ricardo Dominguez, Chavez kept saying that Dominguez was in the fight and winning it despite the fact that Soto was dominating him. It got to the point that Chavez was having a tantrum like a child and walked out on the broadcast.
Sven Ottke is the ultimate comedy gold god of boxing commentators. Unfortunately he was replaced by Henry Maske. This is an outrage!
