With respect to power perhaps, but I have reservations about both his heart and ability to withstand punishment. (Sure, he may be a great fellow, but I didn't see him protest the referee's decision to stop matters against Holmes, Cobb, Quarry and Berbick the way Patterson did against Ali. Floyd also tried mightily to beat the count both times he faced Liston, while Earnie didn't even attempt to rise against Lyle. In his newsletter, "Tonight's Boxing Program," legendary underground New York writer Malcolm "Flash" Gordon vehemently accused Shavers of dogging it in the Holmes rematch. There might be some validity to Flash's venomous tirade.) My regard for his power is based upon the expressed opinions of those who remember being punched by him, specifically those of Caldwell, Ali and Holmes, as well as the fact he took out Ellis with a single punch (something even Frazier couldn't do at his most lethal) and stopped Jimmy Young (who wasn't merely a defensive genius, but a genuinely tough customer who took it downstairs from both Foreman and Cooney). Shavers didn't have the staying power and toughness of, say, a Cuevas (before Hearns), Jeffries or Tua. (Somewhat ironic, since Earnie was supposed by many to be the best conditioned heavyweight of his era.)

Thomas Hearns - JohnThomas1 Muhammad Ali - Groove Jersey Joe Walcott - SuzieQ49 Carlos Monzon - Red Cobra Marvin Hagler - RedRooster Ike Williams - myself? And so on...
i'll take nigel benn. i'll fully admit i'm prone to endless bias ramblings about how great he was. i also cant stop watching his fights on youtube and have a life size poster of him above my bed. ok i made the last bit up, but still.
Mind mate. It's not your fav fighter, but other posters. So think of a poster on here and what fighter(s) spring to mind for them. Anyone not sure, look at the first post on the thread.
