Sometimes a much, sometimes a less anticipated fight is made, there's a verbally agreement or there's actually a contract signed...

    ...then suddenly...

...one of the fighters chickens out and it's all off for good. Some say it's injury, weight problem or bad timing, others say it's contractual sh*t... some ask to postpone but in the end if the proposed fight doesn't get made, the pull-outer can be called a chicken...

    So,

YOUR memory on fighters chickening out lately or in boxing history?

Brittley Klitschko ran from his mandatory Hasim Rahman like a runaway slave, then the WBC forced him to fight Rahman instead of Calvin Brock.

So what does Quitali do? Sustains four straight "injuries", retires, and then announces his return once Rahman has lost.

Yeah and the cable networks really like to take advantage of it and pull a last minute bait and switch on us fans.

  4. Tyson bitched out of his fight with Holyfield in 91, :yep he knew he couldn't win, and he was right, because he was KO'D IN 96..:hi:

In 2008 we already have some chickens, maybe they should get a good place at Jones' chicken farm...

Paul Williams is Chicken4Chicken #1, but it seems that a sadly top10 is on the way

DLH (fighting Mayweather instead of Cotto)
Mayweather (fighting Oscar instead of Cotto)
Cintron (not fighting Williams, running from Clottey)

and there could be a new and strong contender in Joe Calzaghe... who doesn't seem to hurry signing that damn contract. Or is it Hopkins? Or both? :)

The fight was signed for November 1991, but Tyson pulled out 3 weeks ahead of time with an injured rib.

He got convicted 4 months later.

As if Vitali should be scared of Rahman, who was KTFO twice by Maskaev.

Don't know if it was agreed or not, but Bowe vs. Lewis should be a good example.

Chagaev punking out of his match against Iggy, for reasons still in question today.

I agree. Since when did Rahman become so scary?

Victor Galindez, as challenger, once "whimped" out of a fight with his previous conqueror Mike Rossman by refusing to come out of his dressing room, leaving Rossman standing all alone in the ring.

I think he / his mangement didn't like the ref or the officials, so they refused to fight. Of course Galindez had the backing of the inept WBA, and ended up getting away with it.

That was Rossman's high point in his career. He later loses to Galindez and slowly fades away.
