Fighters coming back from crushing defeats?

    And then after getting crushed by Hearns, comes back a couple of years later by beating Barkley, dropping him in the process.

    Not in the league of the names mentioned; but Kirkland Laing made a habit of coming back to the boil, inevitably only to faultier again!

    Because he did figuratively, fight under the radar post Ali, and did not get right back to the top; I do not think Liston gets the kudos for his career rebuild in the second half of the 60s.

    Just to be a minor downer Duran really did get caught unawares and unprepared in that first fight. He was being kept busy in easy fights after beating Buchanan and had actually fought less than 3 weeks before. He was also sick from memory. He was always going to come back with a vengeance.

    Now i hate to get on the Duran excuse train but i think their subsequent bouts excuse him quite a bit. Credit to Esteban for bearing down on him like he did.

    Yeah, losing to a quality fighter like DeJesus in a kind of keep busy fight isn't anything to make much noise over. He would been excused if he asked his management some pretty sharp questions after that one.
