ummm no...because holy and lewis still had to beat on him some..its just that before douglas..his defense (and also the relative lack of skill from the guys he fougth) allowed him to get hit less...not really a case of punch resistance going.

Tyson had never taken the HEAVY sustained punches he took from Holyfield and Lewis pre Douglas tho. He was rarely hit. All three men had to pound him into submission. I'd bet pre Douglas Tyson would not have survived all that if he actually took it.

Not a sexy example, but anyone remember David Reid getting knocked down by a light jab from a club fighter named Sam Hill? Everything was gone.

SOMETIMES ITS WEIGHT LOSS(Byrd&Jones) and sometimes its memory recall (Tate)and the sub-conscious knowing you can be KO'd and sometimes its some good defensive fighters can avoid getting hit but when they do the chin shows its worth(Jones)(Khan).

Sometimes it could be the reverse.: Remember the Cotto apologists, swearing up and down that Cotto's move up to Welterweight.Solved his chin problems & that it was all in the past. he was so much stronger at 147. Well the Margarito & Pacquaio fights destroyed that theory!

what about terry norris...granted julian jackson was the first to crack his chin but save for the simon brown ko loss he seemed to have things going his way then just fell apart against keith mullings and wasn't the same in his fights after

walter mathysse - dude was like 25-0 with 24 ko's..faces paul williams who beats him down in 10 rounds..wins one minor fight after then faces cintron who brutally ko'ed him..his last 3 fights after that were all brutal ko losses
