I seen a thread that Cotto deserves an elite trainer but he's not the only one ... who else do you think is in line for a better trainer? and what trainer? My pick: Kelly Pavlik - no matter who it is, a more experienced trainer would expand his potential ... he has so many dimensions that have yet to be exposed by Lowe ... no disrespect to Jack Lowe because he's a good trainer, but I think his options when the heat is on are very limited and in return has effected Kels in the process. Trainer: Ronnie Shields, Roger Mayweather, or Emmanuel Steward **** even Freddie Roach _ guys who work well with agressive fighters and blends in boxing and defense to their attributes. Look what Sheilds did with Cintron ... Roger did with his nephew ... Steward with all those tall fighters ... Freddie Roach with Pac or Khan ...
your an ass. why didnt u just make the title-kelly needs new trainer and here are the options...no he doesnt need a new trainer..i think all of those trainers started the same way loew did...did their fighter go with someone else because of a loss
You guys probably haven't heard of him but Kevin Mitchell is now going to the Wild Card to train with Roach. He is an extremely exciting British fighter (if you want to check out a specific fight look up his win over Johanneson) with a granite chin but his defence is terrible- hence the reason he's going to work with Roach:good. If he does sort his defence out- expect some awesome fights.
Chris Arreola is in desperate need of a new trainer. I think it is cool that he is loyal to his friends and all, but it is obvious that his friend/trainer is not helping his career in a positive way. He needs somebody who will teach him some form of defence rather than just taking punches to the face (despite how good some people deem his chin), and somebody that will teach him the discipline required to utilize the gym effectively. I would love to see what a Tommy Brooks could do with Arreola's career.
Took the dam words right out of my mouth. Once I saw the thread I thought of him first. Great call. I feel that he would have used all those skills much better if he learned things from other trainers. Plus I feel that his father is a poor strategist during bouts. You never see Zab make mid fight adjustments for the better.
every trainer he mentioned took on those fighters after they already had big names none of them took a 9 yr old kid and made him a world champion.
Hatton,Cotto,Berto,Haye and Pavlik come to mind, no offence to their previous trainers who have done great. I dont count Floyd senior as elite for Hatton as they ended up falling out bad and never really gelled.
