Paul Fuji was just a very angry man who just walked forward throwing clubbing haymakers. I get the impression that Walter McGowan was a bit of a wappy, endearingly mad little c*nt despite his lovely style. Seemed to struggle not to brawl or avoid feisty exchanges. Typical Scot in that sense but it cost him not being a big puncher and bleeding like a stuck pig. You've got to love a bloke (and question his good sense and self-restraint) not a puncher who jumps up a full classic division and thinks to himself, ''You know what, I'll test the water a bit careful like. Somebody give Jose Medel a ring and tell him he's dead.''
Of course. As well as Smith The Bonecrusher (underrated fighter) that I would include in the "calm rage" category. However in those two categories a lot of boxers can be placed and not only those I named. I just wanted to make it clear that boxers' rage doesn't always have a visible expression.
I wasn't being sarcastic...everything I've read about Sullivan stated he was mean as hell and fought like a raging bull. Certainly was "fueled by rage" like the thread title. He had a huge chip on this shoulder...I don't know the reason for it but it sure carried over into the ring.
