Guys who ended up ruined or derailed because they were brought along too quickly, or put in with opponents who were just all wrong for them.

Mike Weaver's entire career was a matchmaking disaster.

Robin Blake. Too many tough fights too close together and they should have not put him in with Tyrone Crawley.

    Exhibit A is Pedro Nolasco.

Won an Olympic medal for the Dominican Republic in the 1984 games, beating two future pro champs and losing to a third.

    1984 Olympic Games[edit]

He turned pro in 1986 and with a 4-1 record, he was matched with the 24-0 Tony Lopez. Decima was stopped in a war. He lost the rematch as well and then was stopped by Victor Callejas.

I read an interview where Weaver claimed that he ruined a few young up and comers himself. I wonder who he meant?

    Mike Tyson.

Put in again and again against the largest contenders they could find. At 5-10 he was always at a disadvantage.

He had what it took to beat most of them, but in his later years his promoters should have made better choices.

Irish John Collins was a exciting prospect who was heading to a title
fight with Hagler when he was matched with Midlands strongman
Tony Sibson who had just being ko by what was arguably Hagler
    at his prime best.
Collins was slaughter in 2 and never contended again.

Cooney: over-protected and deprived of real learning opportunities as a result.
Quarry: pushed too fast into the lion's den.
Davey Moore: pushed way too fast. He was not ready at all for Duran.
