I visited my uncle yesterday, he is into his 80s and was a decent lightweight in his time. He boxed for the army and when he was demobbed he worked fairground boxing booths for 10 years. He has an absolutely enormous collection of scrapbooks (approx 60) detailing fights from the 30s all the way through to the end of the 1950s. Yesterday we went through some of these books and talked about a set of photos that we remembered seeing years ago showing an incident at what we assumed to be MSG probably in the 30s. Photo one showed two fighters tearing into each other with no gloves on, photo two showed the referee exiting the ring pretty sharpish and the third showed a group of New York Citys finest trying to restrain one of the fighters who appears to be wearing a straight jacket. We went through quite a number of the scrapbooks but couldn't find the photos. We both remembered seeing them in the past so we are not going mad. Does anyone know of this incident, and if so who were the two fighters involved? Thanks
