Watched Vic Darchinyan's fights versus Nonito Donaire, and it's comically evident how much he tries to fight like Rigo in the rematch. Rigo had just beaten Donaire, and there's really no mistaking what he's doing. Edmond Tarverdyan trained him for this fight which makes it doubly funny. Not to forget it honestly worked for a bit. Slowed down the fight. Lead less and feinted more so Nonito couldn't counter effectively. Got him 4 rounds deeper than their first match. Won 3 or 4 of the 8 scored rounds. Just couldn't take Nonito's power. Clip below of Cuban Vic. https://streamable.com/bo89n Was wondering if anybody recalls other instances of this? Obviously you build on what worked for other guys, but this is the craziest version I've seen of that.
Slightly off topic ...but for years all of Roy Jones’ opponents basically had the same game plan ...his hands are too fast so you can’t outbox him ...you have to make into a brawl ...it played right into his hands ....I give credit to Antonio Tarver for coming with a great strategy...anyone can be outboxed
Thanks for the replies everybody. Watched a few more Vic fights and thought of a joke. What do you call Vic Darchinyan when he turns 30? Spoiler Vic Daryan
