Ricardo Lopez is the perfect example.

The first I thought of. My favourite fighter, and during his career he was underrated, but not anymore.

Ricardo Lopez, Mike McCallum, and Orlando Canizales are perfect examples of fighters having been seen as underrated before to being overrated in time.

No doubt here but most history nuts rank him very high as he should be

I think McCallum was thought for a while underrated, but in reality his loss against Kalambay was something which hurt his momentum.

This is very true. Ton of people who commented in my videos just say "________ is so underrated!". Literally tho, just put any name on that blank and you have your self-proclaimed underrated fighter.

He might be. I've rarely heard McCallum mentioned as one of the greats and I find very underrated when ranking him in the top best p4p boxers of all time. McCallum beat Julian Jackson, Donald Curry, Milton McCrory, Sumbu Kalambay, Steve Collins, Michael Watson, Ayub Kalule, Herol Graham and Jeff Harding. Very stacked resume.

I've always thought Floyd Patterson is way too easily dismissed. He was top ten from 1955 to 1972 which, I think, is mind blowing. Floyd had three disastrous losses, one avenged but after the second loss to Liston, his only defeats were contraversial, (Quarry and Ellis), or to Ali.
Floyd also, always, carried himself like a Champion, rather than like Hannibal Lector, which it seems current fans demand.

    He’s borderline overrated.
