Not to say these guys didn't have big win s, but certain losing fights stand out more. Frank Bruno. Bonecrusher /Witherspoon /Tyson twice /Lewis. Barry McGuigan. That heart breaking loss to Cruz in Las Vegas! Billy Conn. His fight of course with Louis the first time around. Meldrick Taylor. One word.. CHAVEZ Tommy Burns. His beating at the hands of the first black heavyweight in history to become champion. Jess Willard. That loss to Dempsey really stands out for me, unforgettable. Tommy Gibbons. May have some good names on his record but his name goes with Dempsey and Shelby, Montana. Any more or thought s?
Michael Spinks is always remembered for his first round knockout loss to a prime Mike Tyson, which is a shame because he is one of the greatest LHW fighters.
Ricky Hatton also deserves mention. A lot of people seem to know him more for his 2 big losses to both Mayweather and Pacquiao. And let's not forget Ricardo Mayorga. Despite having 2 good wins over Vernon Forrest many people mostly remember him for all of his big name fights which were losses to guys such as Trinidad, Oscar de la Hoya, Mosley, Cotto.
Hatton is a great shout. Perception of him now seems to be based on how badly he was beaten by the two best fighters of the era, rather than a lengthy distinguished title reign and being a top 10 p4p mainstay. He gets pigeonholed as the plucky British brawling underdog type, when he was a very good fighter in his prime.
Prince Naz to an extent. His cockiness and arrogance play a part in him being remembered for an ATG dismantling from Barrera.
As @The Morlocks said, the great ALEXIS ARGUELLO. Chocolatito is also in a similar situation. Funny how it almost repeated.
Jeffries with his loss to Jack Johnson. He's known as an old champion that got dominated by Jack, but in his prime he was one of the most dominant HW champions ever.
Spot on! Talk about arrogance coming back to bite someone. His win s aren't half as remembered as getting a ass kicking.
