No, and he did. Dempsey 1234 was in the Taylor camp during the Chavez fight- he was in charge of procuring sparring for Taylor.
You would be surprised how quickly the weight comes on, especially if the fighter is losing it to 'rehydrate' in the 36 hours after the fight. If he can regain 15-20 pounds over night....
It is not unusual at all to see a guy 30, 35 pounds heavier a week after a fight.

Not much that could have been done about that.

I'm not saying you can't possibly be right but i have great trouble getting my head around this.

I don't recall Taylor looking immense at 140. If he himself gained 15-20 pounds overnight he'd be coming in at Hagler's weight while he was fighting at 140.

There was, say, a 53 day gap. 7 1/2 weeks say. Let's say he put on 48 pounds in 3 weeks and then had to take off 50 pounds in 4 1/2 weeks.

Again i find this very hard to fathom. We are talking virtually 100 pounds of weight in 7 1/2 weeks.

I'd be interested to see more.

I think Adolpho Washington deserved a rematch with Virgil Hill. He was giving Hill a really hard time but had picked up a cut along the way. Between rounds (around the 8th round) an over-zealous camera man wanted a close-up of the cut and ran his camera right into Washington's bad eye, splitting the cut to the point where it was stopped then and there. No rematch in sight.

Yeah, it probably would have been detrimental to his health even though he undoubtedly earned it.

I’m not sure he deserved it. A bit like James Toney not turning up in shape for the Roy Jones fight. Not taking the fight seriously the first time isn’t a reason for the other guy to give him a rematch. But Gomez almost needed to lose that fight to know how much it meant to him. That’s why Sanchez’s death was so devastating to him.

I asked my partner about the most weight that he has seen a fighter gain and lose between fights, in the shortest time frame. When he responds I will share that info- as long as it makes me look good, lol. Seriously, though, he has been around several guys that notoriously blew up between fights.

Ha!! No worries mate. This would make a great thread. Again, not saying you are lying etc (i have no doubt you were told this) but it's a hard one to grasp. Let's see what he says.

He says that the most that he has seen was a fighter gain and lose 44 pounds in 4 weeks. The fighter that he is speaking about, i was with him when he was making a serious run at a world ranking and never got above 151- to fight in the 140 class,

Mercer against Lewis with Steward because I would have loved to see if it would have been so close with Steward in his corner too
