I always thought that boxers got paid alot more when they first started out. For example on boxing scene.com, Peter Manfredo was saying that he is only getting $10,000 to $20,000 per fight, I thought since he established him self he could get more. Also for floyd mayweather jr's 3rd fight he only got $7,500, he came a long way.
when you first start off you are fresh to the game and has alot to prove.. just like any other work you don't start off as a boss for a big company just like that, you have to work your ass there. do you really think boxers like mayweather would fight 39 fights if he made $15.000.000 his first fight.. I sure would'nt..
Amateur background plays a major role here, I believe DLH made up to $35,000 in his early fights because of his gold medal.
Have in mind that medallists generally get a lump sum from their governments too. Leonard was paid 40 grand for his first fight.
Ahh. I remember seeing on the Legendary Nights Leonard recieved that. Oh well, its still a lot of money for a 1st fight.
I've moved around with a few pros. Just the real grassroots guys, nothing special, will probably only end up with 5, maybe 10, pro fights.. and they were pretty much getting a standard 2k a fight.
Yuriorkis Gamboa And Odlanier Solis is two other examples of fighters that makes alot of money but to do that so early in your pro career you got to have a huge succes as an amateur boxer like an olympic gold/silver medal AT LEAST
