For future reference, I'm curious which boxers (bareknuckle or gloved) people would like to have more info on. I've got a pretty good idea of the next few things I want to look into after the McGovern stuff, but there'll be a better chance of me posting info if people are requesting it on a certain fighter.
Senya has posted a fair bit on him. The Gibbons and Welsh footage on YouTube are worth watching too http://senya13.blogspot.com/2010/08/1911-03-14-packey-mcfarland-nd10-owen.html http://senya13.blogspot.com/2010/08/1912-02-06-packey-mcfarland-nd10-kid.html http://senya13.blogspot.com/2011/05/1912-05-29-packey-mcfarland-nd10-ray.html http://senya13.blogspot.com/2013/10/1912-10-11-packey-mcfarland-w-tko7.html http://senya13.blogspot.com/2011/03/1911-03-20-packy-mcfarland-w-tko4.html http://senya13.blogspot.com/2011/05/1912-05-15-packey-mcfarland-nd6-young.html http://senya13.blogspot.com/2011/05/1912-05-09-packey-mcfarland-w-rtd5.html http://senya13.blogspot.com/2010/05/1907-05-10-packey-mcfarland-w-pts10.html http://senya13.blogspot.com/2018/06/1915-09-28-ted-kid-lewis-w-ud12-jack.html
McFarland had the better of every round but the first, which was even up. He kept cool under fire and boxed cleanly and fairly. He did not lose his temper and was the sportsman always. Moran was extremely good natured, laughing repeatedly when hit and made no excuses for his defeat This is how boxing should be
Moran was a very good fighter too, a top challenger to Abe Attell. He looks great in his fight with Nelson This content is protected Abe Attell is another one I need to learn more about at some point.
Georges Carpentier Very surprised he is not talked about. Look at him fighting Dempsey, he was amazing and really looks fantastic on film. That fight puts to rest the supposed lack of skill fighters from the past . BOTH fighters look great. This content is protected
Reading through these reports I've noticed they didn't have set weights, fighting at 138, 134, 133, 131 ect. Any reason why or just because?
