I think "ruin" was too strong a word. Maybe "expose weaknesses"?

Yeah, Taylor had "wins" over Ouma and Spinks but he looked awful. And Hopkins "exposed" JT's flaws which made it easier for JT's future opponents to game plan against him. He took some of his soul IMO the way he outclassed JT for 24 rounds. He landed the much harder, cleaner shots. The flush shots JT landed in 24 rounds, you can probably count with both hands. That has to have an effect on your mental confidence going into fights. I mean he was the next big thing at MW and just running over guys. He ran into a wall in Hopkins.

Winky? Where is he? He is on a milk carton. He's missing. A non-factor after the Hopkins fight.

Johnson improved 10 fold down the line after the loss to Hopkins. Hardly a ruined fighter. He didn't ruin Taylor either, not by a long shot. Taylor was simply exposed later on because of his limited technical ability. Wright wasn't ruined, he's just past his prime and closing in on the end of his career.

I had Winky-Bernard a draw so he was definately not ruined and they wrestled so much that the only injury was an illegal cut.

Tarver has been very competitive since his loss

Jermain Taylor won the last fight so he definately wasnt ruined

Trinidad looked very good against the bigger Jones but why didnt you mention your idol Oscar?

Your hope is getting ahead of you in Pavlik's case-give him a chance

No we can not agree on all of those. Wright was already well past it by the time he fought Bhop and contrary to popular belief bernard did not really dominate him. It was a competitive fight and I don't think Winky was ever really hurt.

Taylor actually beat Hopkins twice, if anyone ruined Taylor it was Pavlik

It's only been a couple of days so it's way too soon to tell if Pavlik was ruined.

Glenn Johnson accomplished his best work after fighting hopkins. if anything that beatdown helped him as a learning experience.

You might be able to make an argument for Tarver but it could also be argued that Tarver's age and weight issues were more his problem than the schooling from Bhop.

OK, a year later, we can conclude the following:

Hopkins did ruin Winky: Winky went from being a top 4 P4P fighter to irrelevant.

Pavlik seems like his confidence has been forever shattered after his outing against Hopkins. Now his reputation is ruined.

Same with Tarver. He was "the man" at 175. After that loss, he was never the same.

JT? Does any more need to be said?

JT looked horrible after the Hopkins fights. Struggled with smaller guys in his defenses and has been knocked out thrice. He didn't take no beating from Hopkins but maybe mentally. I mean he never developed after the Hopkins fights when he was looking great coming up and people were expecting big things from him.
