to keep a skilled proffesional boxer trapped in a corner or against the ropes take a extrodinary amount of skill or a extrodinary amount of strength to fend of clinches, spinning out or side stepping.

i remember duran and chavez being very good at "locking guys up" on the ropes but from different ways entirely despite the similar greatness and strengths.

chavez was a seeming invincible fighter who was incredably strong and had a even more incredable chin. chavez could soak up punish ment and then just man handle you on the ropes. once there his bodywork was to me agonizing to watch.

duran wasent as strong but he was so fast that he could cut you off and keep you trapped by throwing body shots and uppercuts while using the top of his head to push you into the ropes.

what fighters where the best at keeping their opponents traped?

I'd say Duran was actually even stronger than Chavez.

Once Saddler got ahold of you it was like being swallowed up by a black hole.

Jeff Fenech comes immediately to mind, especially at bantam and superbantam. You had to literally run from him if you didn't want your ass on the ropes. Even at feather and superfeather against the likes of Callejas and Nelson he didn't give them a moment's respite.

Aaron Pryor was another. He'd pepper a guy and slide over a step and pepper the guy some more. The opponents must've thought the guy had 3 hands in there and Pryor did it as smoothly as anyone. Terrific footwork while throwing punches and that's a skill that's hardly in abundance anymore.
