I'm getting old and senile, don't know if this has been asked before. Fighters known to be able to take hard or repeated body shots? I guess Muhammad Ali is the obvious one that Springs to mind, who else?
Sugar Ray Leonard. Going up vs a great body puncher like Duran and not getting stopped is testament to good body punch resistance.
I will add GGG to the list as well. Canelo is a terrific body puncher and landed some strong hard body shots to Golovkins body. While Golovkin was very defensively responsible and while i do think Canelo's body punching made GGG hesitate at times on his own offense, there is no doubt Golovkin could take a good body shot. Though i do think it has a lot to do with his strong Soviet fundamentals and naturally cautious style.
Provodnikov was basically doing nothing but pass blood after that Matthysse war, I remember the vial of his urine sample being just black blood.
Joshua Clottey. He fought some very good body punchers that were focusing their attack on his body to get around that high guard of his, but He never seemed affected by it.
How about Joe Bugner? He is one of the handful of guys who went the distance vs Joe Frazier, who was obviously an expert body puncher. I will have to rewatch Bugner-Frazier but i suspect Frazier did land some good body shots.
What about Arturo Gatti r.i.p. vs Micky Ward? Also didn't Lennox hit tua with a hard body shot in their fight? And he just walked it off...but at the same token Chris Byrd hurt him to the body too.
Not many men would have stayed upright from this shot. We always talk about Ali's speed and skill, but he was as tough as they come. This content is protected
