Two guys come to mind: Zahir Raheem, after his masterful paint job of Erik Morales, 'n Dmitry Pirog's one-punch KO of hot-prospect Danny Jacobs.

Did Raheem 'n Pirog fail to seize the moment? What's your take?...And do other examples come ta mind?

Jones, arguably, didn't get the win, but sure-as-hell looked good. Can't remember if he didn't get opportunities off it, or just looked lackluster.

Vernon Forrest, two huge wins over Sugar Shane Mosley. He should have had a megafight with DeLaHoya or something. What happens? he loses to Mayorga in a small money fight. ruins any chance of a huge $$ fight.

Guess Forrest's clear domination of Sugar Shane -- so highly thought of --scared fighters 'n their managers away, lc.

    good point JG

a similar argument could be made for langford (though his not cashing in the ketchel performance had a lot to do with ketchel's death)

in a literal sense, douglas "cashed in" after tyson but completely ruined his own career through gluttony

michael bentt after knocking out tommy morrisson didn't do a whole lot

If Doug Jones could fore-tell the future,,,,,
he could have taken easy pick-up fights for 1963 and 1964, and wait for
the big bay-day versus Muhammad Ali in 1965.

I do remember Vernon had trouble getting bouts at that time... But Mayorga did cash in by beating Forrest, & so it goes...

Met Michael Bentt 'bout a month ago in Hollywood at a screening of THE FIGHTER, J. Spoke with him afterward. Low-key engaging guy, with a good sense of humor.

Rolando Navarette dethroned Cornelius Boza- Edwards in a thrilling war. he could have capitalized, but was quickly dethroned himself in another thriller with Bazooka Limon.
