    Julio Cesar Chavez senior fits that bill too. In fact a lot of hispanic fighters look like they have higher body fat than they (probably) actually do.

    I'm not sure about Mercer. He had a bit of a gut but his chest and arms were quite developed. There are plenty of weightlifters at his weight who look like that.

    Out of current fighters, Adam Kownacki comes to mind as being faster than you'd expect from someone who looks like that.

    its more to do with our perception of fatter people - they arent slow or stupid or unfit just because they are fat.Cardio, losing bad habits that led them to get fat, and the future health of their frame and body that carrying extra weight for years puts on it are their real issues.

    Willie Meehan - appeared to have a hex over Jack Dempsey. Roly-poly at 5'9", but his girth was his asset. Was King of the 4-rounders long before Butterbean.
